Some motivational words...
Now that the boys are here, during the "quiet hours" I find that I refer to two books in particular that I read during pregnancy - THE BABY WHISPERER and READY OR NOT: HERE THEY COME. In the latter, there is a top ten list of how to survive the first year. I feel like I've read it several time just to confirm that all I am going through is "normal." Hope that you get the same feeling out of it and realize how lucky we all are! Twin motherhood is HARD work! Here it is in brief...
10. Constantly remind yourself that you WILL sleep again. You will eat a full meal while it is warm. Yo will again change out of pjs before 3pm.
9. Accept that you will make mistakes.
8. Promise your spouse that you will share your feelings about the whole experience.
7. Set aside some time for yourself each day - even if it's 10 minutes. As the babies get older, take some time to get otu of the house and/or be with friends.
6. Remember how blessed you are, even when you haven't been granted a good night's sleep or meal in days.
5. Find the humor in as much of the not so fun stuff as you can.
4. When you need to cry, CRY!
3. Trust yourself and your instincts, no matter what. You were chosen to mother these babies for a reason!!
2. Although it may be against your nature, allow yourself to lean on people. You will have many years to repay their kindness and you will add these moments of thoughtfulness to those you cherish along wiht all the other special memories of this first year.
1. Keep your cupboards stocked with chocolate or whatever indulgence makes you happy!
