Some people...
will complaing about ANYTHING! The Obama thing with the $10 extra in your check is a perfect example.
Instead of being happy and saying "well great, more than I had before. More than the last Prez gave me". People have to say "well it is ONLY 10 bucks" "we will be taxed on it anyway"
or the kicker "it will make the defecit worse"
I mean really...can't we be happy for once

Tell me about it. The guy I sit next to is like big deal. I said, then tell them you don't want it so someone else can get it

Re: Some people...
haha -- i think that's just the nature of the beast these days.
my parents have an expression they always say in spanish about ungrateful clients who always moan and groan -- basically it translates to
"Even if I gave it to you for FREE, you'd still complain about the price"

I don't see this as complaining, I see this as a valid, political concern and observation. While I'm not shirking the extra $$, of COURSE I am concerned about whether such a minimal amount for each individual will really justify the tremendous impact this has on our deficit, which will have a very real and direct impact on us and more so on our children.

I think that in the past the government has spent the same amount but instead of going to American People it went to meaningless things. The government has always spent...esp. the last eight years which is why we are here in the first place. At least with this the government is trying to relieve the American people instead of lobbyist and special interests groups that would otherwise get this money.

Which is exactly my point - I would never look down at someone who has valid concerns about this issue, as it has significant political implications, and deserves some discussion.
And personally, I don't think that, just because the government has spent $ on the wrong things in the past, it justifies putting us deeper in debt for something that will really make a minimal impact for most individually. The rebate was how long ago? Less than a year ago, right, and the lesson learned from that is that it did absolutely nothing to stimulate the economy.
I see some validity in the argument that, pooled together, that money may make more of a significant impact if directed to those populations who are in desperate need of it, through some kind of government program or incentive, not just individuals, but the very retail businesses that we are trying to stimulate with this $.

Obama's stimulus plan. We get an extra $10 per week in our checks because less taxes are taken out.

That's not a complaint. That's just a varying economic viewpoint.

Re: Some people...
IMO the people who have something negative to say about the extra money are the people who OBV don't need the extra money. Give it to someone who needs it then instead of turning up your nose.
ETA: Stand at your local bus stop or can/bottle redemption center and say you think it would be better to put the money toward the deficit and see how many dirty looks you get...

Re: Some people...
for the record, I'm not complaining about it, but I think everyone needs to know the facts (that's why I posted about it) because come tax time next year EVERYONE will be complaining that they didn't know they could stop the extra money. At that point a lot of people are going to owe it all back, which I think is silly. They should have informed people better about this.
I don't get the extra money, but if I did I would be very happy

True. But I just realized thanks to HeatherRose's post that not everyone gets it. If you make more than a certain amount you have to opt out or pay it back at year end- so in essence if you don't need it you aren't getting it anyway.
So everyone can stop their bitchin'
