Some recommendations for must have items

I know when I was PG I always appreciated people's experiences. Well DS is now 4 months so I wanted to share what I thought we must haves.

First and foremost...The Miracle Blanket. From week two DS was sleeping for 5 hour stretches at night and getting up only once. I totally believe this was the result of the miracle blanket. It is the best for swaddling. DS has been sleeping for 9-10 hours straight since he was 10 weeks old. It was not hard to brake him of the swaddling.

With regard to clothes, the best outfits for newborns in my opinion are the ones with the feet and the mittens. The mittens that you buy separately constantly fell off of DS but the clothes that you can fold over the hands were great that way I didn't have to worry about him scratching himself.

The ocean wonders aquarium has been great. We put DS in his crib at night awake and he will watch it and keep hitting it on until he falls asleep.

Hope this helps all of the mommies to be

I would also add a Boppy pillow if you are planning to nurse (bring it to the hospital with you when you go in to deliver) and BURP CLOTHS AND RECEIVING BLANKETS! I had NO IDEA how many burp cloths and blankets I would go through!

I also got a lot of use from the sleep sak/gowns - who wants to deal with snapping and unsnapping sleepers at 1, 3 and 5:00 am? And to that end - try to get the footed sleepers with the zippers rather than snaps... Chat Icon

Re: Some recommendations for must have items

I agree with the zipper pjs.
Several different pacifiers, DS doesnt use his but there are some he wont even entertain
I dont use the miracle blanket but I do swaddle with a receiving blanket so that has been a necessity
Gas drops, you never know when they might come in handy

Every baby is different but DS needs tons of bibs and burp cloths, although he didnt need them constantly until 4 weeks old!
