Does Angelina speak Vietnamese?

How are they going to be communicating with a three year old who, it is assumed, only speaks/understands another language?

He's only 3...I'm sure his grasp of language is the same of any other 3 y/o and will be able to pick up english without issue.

I also think that Angelina probably thought about all of this before adopting him.

I wish people would give her a break - it's a GOOD thing, what she's doing. Chat Icon

I am sure they will get a translator for the very beginning - and kids pick up languages super fast, he will be understanding and speaking english in no time.

It probably also won't take her long to learn a little Vietnamese---enough to understnad a 3 year old at least.

It's an interesting question though.

Well, when people adopt kids from China, do they all know Chinese? Chat Icon

Seriously though, a woman I used to work with adopted two little girls from China not knowing the language. All is wonderful with them.

OK it is a good thing but my heart breaks for all those "regular" people out there who have to go through a tediously long drawn-out process to adopt a child. People who cannot have children of their own, who have been waiting and saving their $$ for years.

Angelina has 3 - and she gets another so quickly because she has $$. It just isn't fair to all the people who have been waiting, it really isn't...

ITA. At that age it should only take a couple of months if he is completely immersed in english-speaking company.

Many children come into the country at 3 years and up without anyone translating for them at all in schools - they learn the language, plain and simple....

Kids pick up languages much easier than adults - he will learn the language in less than a year....

What is considered quick? "rumors" state that she filed about a year or so again....who know if it's more or less. We just don't know.

I read in the paper that the Vietnam officials have stated that since she is a celebrity they are rushing through paperwork for her.

Chat Icon the negativity is shocking. She adopted a non-infant. I think that is huge of her. Love is the universal language.
