SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! IS THERE A WAY I CAN RECOVER MY COMPUTER FILES
i was on my laptop last night and everything was normal
i just got on now and EVERYTHING is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COMPLETELY all my wedding planning including all the addresses
all my pics
all my word documents
my wallpaper
all software ive installed
everything
please help

When DH gets up I will ask what recovery system we used when ours crashed. We did lose stuff, but were able to recover a good deal of things

We recover files at work a lot. Our tech guy was able to recover my pictures/songs from an external hard drive that went bad. I know one of my co-workers had to bring in her computer (because she didn't know how to take the hard drive out of her computer). They recovered all of her files too.
Whatever you do, don't try to reinstall programs (particularly the OPERATING SYSTEM).
In order to recover them, they're going to need your computer. If you're in the city today, I can ask someone to look at it for you.

so you boot to windows and everything is not there?
if so, stop using the computer until you get the device looked at.

Jess - I don't know but there is a computer place on Merrick Road in Bellmore that may be able to help you - worse case scenario.
Hopefully you retrieved everything by now though.

no barb, i wont be in the city this weekend
i just have to take it to someone
most pics were uploaded onto snapfish already so i dont care about that
worl files i always emailed myself
its just ALL the wedding stuff
even our ceremony that we wrote over 2 years ago before we got engaged

What do you mean everything is gone?
Can you log into windows? Do you have more than one hard drive?
Where do you normally store your file (My Documents or your own folders?)
Did something happen recently - install new software or hardware?

it looks like i just bought the laptop brand new. VAIO wallpaper and only the original programs are there. All doc files, pics, wedding planning folder is gone
as of last night wheni saw this yes, icould log onto windows. um i dont know about hard drives
mostly my docs but i have a few folders
nope havent installed anything at all
this is my old laptop.
i have a new one but i would still use my old one basically for all wedding planning since the screen is bigger

Did you maybe have the recovery disk in the CD drive? 
It almost sounds like you just may have logged into a different or new profile...that would be a good thing...
If you do a search for any of your files (Start - Search - use * as a wildcard in case you don't know the exact name of the file) do any come up?
