Someone to snake a clogged pipe

Any recommendations? It is the pipe leading outside for the washer. It is an old house so I am betting its filled with years of sludge. I don't want to get robbed calling roto router.

I was going to suggest Roto-Rooter. I don't find them expensive.

I just had a BADLY clogged pipe. REALLY bad. On Thanksgiving. They came by on Friday morning first thing.

Its not cheap. I think the snake was $299. $69 for the service call.

It ended up he was there for 4+ hours. Because they come with "everything" on their truck he was equipped with a much more powerful snake that got the job done.


They charge by the job NOT the hour.

I had a GREAT experience.

Just a small suggestion -- my FIL suggested we get this little device that you can essentially snake the drain yourself. It probably only works for small clogs, but we used it and it worked .....http://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-Zip-It-Bath-and-Sink-Hair-Snare-BC00400/100665735

I was pretty surprised at how well it worked!

We use $49.95 plumbing. $50 to snake a pipe. They are great. We called them Sunday. Unfortunately they were booked and couldn't come till Monday morning. We called Roto-Rooter and the guy wanted to charge $500!!!! DH told him no way and $49.95 came Monday. Drain is all good now
