Something is wrong with me...
I can't sleep. I'm completely and totally exhausted and drained but come 2am, I'm wide awake and can't fall back asleep. For weeks now, I wake up at 2am and never fall back asleep.
Yael has adjusted beautifully to life without a swaddle. She goes to sleep at 8pm, wakes up for a nibble at 2am and back down by 2:15 until 7am.
So why the hell can't I sleep? Is this hormonal?? I can't keep up like this...

Anything is normal PP-but I would call your OB, you can't function like that much longer

Re: Something is wrong with me...
I had that problem with #2 as well and boy was it annoying. She was sleeping through that 2am feeding but still getting up at least once a night just a little later. I don't remember what I did but one night it stopped (I think it was when she started sleeping through the night fully).

Re: Something is wrong with me...
ugh i had this problem with Melania too..i think i was "waiting" for something to happen..it was insane, i was exhausted, but i just could NOT get comfortable enough in my own head to fall asleep..i think alot of my issue was stress induced.. maybe try talking to someone? I had a hard time in the beginning with number 2..im hoping it comes easier with number 3

Re: Something is wrong with me...
I've been like that since I had my first. It's a horrible cycle and I wish I knew how to break it. While I do have some good nights, most nights I'll awaken somewhere around 2, 3 or 4 a.m. and it takes me HOURS to fall back asleep. I've tried everything. Even Benadryl doesn't help. Not sure I have any advice since I haven't done to a doc about it, but I may as well bring it up next time I go.

If I'm lucky enough for DD to still be sleeping at that hour, I wake up too! The exact same time- and I'm up for a good 1.5 hours at least. Go figure!! It's sooo frustrating and I feel your pain!

Having a lot on your mind will do that. I think it has less to do with Yael than it does other things that are going on with you.
I had insomnia a few years ago & still get it when I have too much on my plate.

Re: Something is wrong with me...
That must be very frustrating. What about having some "dreamy time" tea or chamomile? Maybe it would help to relax you and you might be able to get back to sleep.

Same thing here. Even when I SHOULD be well-rested, I'm not. No advice, but you're not alone!

I think you have a lot of stress going on. I am sure this is a contributor.

I didn't think of that... I suppose that could be the problem. Which still leaves me between a rock and a hard place because I don't think those issues will resolve anytime soon.
Oy. Maybe my body is telling me it's time to go back to therapy. My family should be footing the bill!

Re: Something is wrong with me...
Have you had your thyroid checked? I have post partum thyroiditis after my DDs and I wonder if that contributes at all to my sleeping issues b.c I didn't have them before DD#1 and I didn't have them when DD turned 1 - only in the beginning.
I do agree with a PP that it is hard b.c with 2 esp you have so much on your mind and that your mind frequently races at night when it is quiet and you have some down time to think.

Re: Something is wrong with me...
I had HORRIBLE insomnia when I was pregnant. I had it before and now too, but a nice glass of wine helped then lol. Unisom is safe for pregnant women and it was just enough to keep me asleep. I could fall asleep, but never STAY asleep. Are you BF'ing? I would ask the Dr, but I would think if it's safe while PG, it should be safe while BF'ing as well. Good luck..
