Sometimes I feel like giving up!
DS is no longer sleeping. I know he had his molars pearcing all at once a couple of weeks ago. But now it's a total nightmare. He goes to bed at 10-11:30pm, wakes up at 4am. Goes back to sleep for 1 hour top and awake again at 7am. 1 hour nap. Last night he crashed at 7pm because he did not nap ALL DAY and woke up at 6:40am yesterday morning. But he woke up at 2am and went back to sleep at 4am. Of course even if he does not cry I can't sleep if he does not sleep. I keep tossing and turning in bed. I am completely sleep deprived.
And now with all the other EI evaluations, I am about to lose it. I worked so hard to on GTGs, going to places, going to the museum, the feeding and speech issues, the sensory issues.
I just want to leave and be by myself on a desert island drinking lots of alcohol. Of course, this is not an option. I wanted baby #2 so bad but I am questioning myself.
Sorry for the pity vent!!

Awww, Sophie
I don't blame you, it sounds like there is a lot of stress going on in your house. Do you think that EJ may be effected by it a little bit right now and that is why his sleeping is so off? Maybe a little bit overstimulated?
Maybe when things calm down a little bit then he will get more on his old schedule?

We've all been there. I still think about escaping to an island when I transfer at Jamaica. Damn that Airtrain for being so conveniently located!
He's refusing to go down for a nap now?

Re: Sometimes I feel like giving up!
The beginning of the EI process is very difficult! I know we had a very very tough time. It really took a toll on me emotionally. And Steven was going through so many changes, and then I felt like we weren't spending any quality time together because of the whole whirl wind. and that wasn't helping him at all.
It does get better.

The sleep issue started with his teeth. Now he just decided that he does not want to sleep anymore. He is not even tired. I am.
The stress is "not" apparent. I have to keep going and I don't take it on him. So DS never knows I am not happy with his lack of sleeping. I always play with him, smile, etc...
The EI did not even start yet, but he is not happy to see strangers in the house, shaking toys he could not care less about.
I am dreading when it will start. He will most likely get several services.
Of course, I will be there for him.
I don't know what's wrong with me. I am just so much happier in the Summer. I have been off the computer a lot (we lost internet connection on my laptop which I used to use downstairs). I am refocusing on a lot of things. I am taking care of my house a lot more, cleaning, cooking, etc... I cut off the TV for DS (I had to stop the nonstop whining to watch the Backyardigans!!) so we are playing differently.

Re: Sometimes I feel like giving up!
I know it does not help you now, but I promise it's a phase and that he will go back to sleeping. I try sooooo hard to remind myself of that whenever Ava gets into a screwy sleep pattern. I know how much it sucks and it seems impossible, but really don't stress too much over him not sleeping. He's obviously going through something, and he will eventually regulate his sleep again. If he's still in a crib, you really should just make the conscious decision to let him be and go back to sleep. I know how hard it is, but you need to be at your best in order to help him be at his best, and that takes sleep. But you have to force yourself to do that because I know that feeling of not being able to sleep if your dc is awake. So long as he's safe in his crib, you shouldn't worry about sleeping. Hang in there and try to get some sleep

The evals are really tough on everyone. And, I will lie if I tell you once the services start it will get easier, because it won't. It will be difficult with lots of changes for everyone. But after just a few sessions, it will get easier! I promise!!
If he receives OT they will show you how to play with him in the most effective ways. He won't be upset that you don't put the TV on (trust me, I know how that goes). And you will see lots of changes.
Try to hang in there. I know it's tough.

Awww Sophie Things will get better! Once he starts the therapy(ies), he will get to know his therapists and actually look forward to playing with them every week. They make it fun, it just takes some warming up.
Oh and kudos to you for turning the TV off. You should be very proud of that
