Sometimes life just sucks

My old Supervisor had a stroke in February. While doing tests they discovered she had developed lung cancer. She was going through many treatments and therapy for the stroke and cancer.

The company let her go (mutual agreement between her family and the company) not too long ago.

I just learned this morning that the cancer has spread to her liver and their is absolutely nothing the doctors can do for her. Basically it's all pain management but that's it. It's all just a matter of time.

The other supervisor that works here is very close to her (her sister is married to that person's brother) and this morning she got a phone call that she was looking at a photo of the group we took at the office when we won 1st place in the decorating contest and was a little coherant would anyone like to talk to her. A few people did and when they got off the phone they just started crying.

I have the same picture on my desk that my old supervisor was staring at and I keep looking at her smile from ear to ear and thinking about how she was at the office and it's just not fair. Their were times I may not have gotten along with her and times I felt she was tough or unfair but overall she was hardworking and very dedicated to her position and the company. It's just not fair.
