Sono ques
When I went for my 20 week sonogram we told the tech we did not want to know the sex of the baby. She could not view the heart and the umbilical cord b/c the baby was in the wrong position. We came back a few weeks later and there was a different tech performing the rest of this sonogram. About 30 seconds after she put the probe on my belly she said "It looks like HE is in a better position today" I didn't question her b/c I really don't want to know. A few minutes later she asked "Did you find out the sex at the last sonogram" and we said no. She didn't mention her previous HE comment.
Question: Do you think she was able to see it was a boy when she first put the probe on and that is why she said He or do you think she may have just said HE rather than "it". Do the doctors look at the 20 week sonogram to see the sex and check those parts and make note of the sex in the file?

Re: Sono ques
From my experience most techs and midwives that I experienced through my pregnancy just called the baby a HE the whole pregnancy even a few of my mom's friends did the same because they only had boys. Also alot would say "lets check your little guys heart" and it was way to early for them to even know either way.
But I would think most likely she saw a penis since she said he was in a better position but honestly you never know.

Re: Sono ques
My doctor refers to our baby as "HE" all time - pretty much from the first sonogram at 6 weeks. We don't know for sure the sex of the baby (tech thinks girl) - I would chalk it up to, that tech just referring to all babies as "HE" instead of "IT".
Glad everything went well with your sono.

Re: Sono ques
I would say the tech just refers to babies as "he" rather than "it" - I know that when I went for my sono - and my doctor got the results it wasn't something he looked at. I told him I was having a boy and a girl and he seemed genuinely surprised. Unless he knew and he's a good actor!

Re: Sono ques
Hmmm... I dont think my DR knew either... He knew how badly I wanted to find out...and the day of my sono he wasnt there...so the following month he saw me he asked if it was a boy or girl..and when I said Boy he looked surprised...
Im gonna assume the tech...was calling the baby he rather than it...
