Sono update #3
I started spotting last night so my doctors office said I can come in today for a sono.
They should be able to at least see a sac and fetal pole now, right?
UPDATE: The sono tech saw the gestational sac and yolk sac so far. She said she is seeing what she should be seeing at 5w3d. I'm still spotting and cramping on and off. There is no way I can wait 4 weeks til my next appointment.
update #2 - I ended up calling my RE (who I haven't seen since having baby #1 back in 2011) and he kindly agreed to see me while my regular OB is out on leave. I went this morning at 5w5d and he saw the early stages of the fetal pole and he is almost certain he sees a heartbeat! He sees no clots and told me he is not concerned about the spotting, which has pretty much stopped. He wants me to come back on Monday so he can confirm. So glad I can relax this weekend.
update #3 - We have a heartbeat!!!! 111bpm and measuring right on track. I am starting to relax (a tiny little bit) and get excited! I go back in 1 week for another sono.

Sono at 5w3d - too soon to see anything?
yep - they should be able to see something there right now. Don't expect a heartbeat just yet as it's a bit early.

You should see a sac and yolk sac..it may even be too early for a fetal pole.

Re: Sono at 5w3d - too soon to see anything?
We went at 5w4d and were able to see a sac and a fetal pole, but our sono tech told us that at that stage they usually can only see the sac. Fetal pole most of the time isn't until closer to 6 weeks.

Thanks so much. This is my 3rd pregnancy in 6 months (one was a chemical). I'm so nervous.

Unfortunately I can relate. This is my third pregnancy in 11 months. I had two eight week losses, and am now 5 weeks pregnant. I am so nervous too.
I hope you have a healthy and uneventful pregnancy. keep us updated.

They didn't see anything for me at that point. I was very nervous but went back at 7 weeks and had my little bean.

Good luck! Try and stay calm. Thank you for asking this question, I was going to post this because tomorrow is my 5week4days sono and I was wondering what I'm going to see also.

Glad you were able to see something!! Those first few weeks are so nerve wracking- I can't even imagine how much worse it is if you've had previous losses. When are they going to see you again?

Congrats on seeing something!! Did they check your progesterone levels? Sometimes low Progesterone causes spotting. I had to go on it for the first 12 weeks. I would also demand to be seen earlier than 4 weeks since you are spotting.

Seeing a sac and yolk sac at 5w3d is a great sign. I agree with the PP get your progesterone checked. It's often a cause of spotting and something that can be resolved very easily. If you keep spotting I would make another appointment ASAP and have them run blood. Good luck

Re: Sono at 5w3d - too soon to see anything? update
Thanks everyone. My regular OB is not in, so I saw his partner. The rest of the office knows me and my history, so they are very accommodating about me being seen sooner.
I never thought to ask about progesterone levels. I'll call today and ask.

Sono at 5w3d - too soon to see anything? update
Yes, definitely ask about progesterone Mine wasn't low but dropped when I was about 6 weeks so they put me on crinone because I started spotting. I have a healthy 3.5 month old now. Very easy fix!

That's great news! You must be so relieved.
I just had my sono on Wednesday and was also 5w5d. My doctor saw pretty much the same things. Beginning of fetal pole and heartbeat.
