Soooo my DH is at the swanky danky high falutin upper crusty opening night of the SOFA exhibit at the NYC Armory right now...
Dressed in ripped jeans, a crummy fleece hoodie and steel toed boots 
He's on the VIP list for the Sculptured Objects and Functional Art event 'cause he was commissioned by an artist to do the neon on one of the exhibits, but he didn't even know he was "expected" to attend  He mentioned his attire and the artist he worked with said "that's perfect"
Here's some of his stuff!
Sculptural anatomical artwork inspired by biological electricity, the prescence of natural electrical activity in the human body. "I am fascinated by neon as an amazing mixture of glass, gas and light, and the creative potential of such magical materials"

HATED IT!!!! The exhibits were cool but he felt like a TOOL in his crappy clothes waltzing around with a champagne glass (he brushed his teeth the INSTANT he got home, he HATES champagne ) Plus he's kind of a natural born clutz and was spooked walking around all these fragile glass exhibits with his sh*t-kickers and GINORMO backpack on his shoulder.
He said he bent down to look at some little glass "egg" thing. $75,000. Quote: "And I got the feck outta there fast."

we're going on Saturday to see her and her exhibit (she lives in France normally and i haven't seen her in about 15 years)
My dad went last night and said pretty much the same thing - he enjoyed watching the other people there (fancy folks) almost as much as the sculpture!

That is really cool!! I love the lung. As long as he wasn't in pajama pants his outfit was alright with me.
