Sore bottom after PIO injection

ok so last night i did my 2nd PIO shot and it was nothing! but today ive been feeling like i did a very hard work out on my right cheekChat Icon my left didnt hurt at all after the 1st injection. the nurse said i might of iced it to long and the PIO sat in that spot to longChat Icon but i put the heating pad on right after but maybe not long enough. it just feels like a sore muscle. any way to prevent that or make the pain go away? im to scared to not ice the area tonight on the other side but im scared that side will hurt to.

I don'tthink you should ice it. My nurse told me to put the PIO in my bra for 10 mins or so. Then put your hands on your hips. slide your thumbs down in the back so they are at the top of your butt cheek behind your hip and inject. No icing-that defeats the purpose-the pIO should go in warm

Re: Sore bottom after PIO injection

Just wanted to let you know that my butt is STILL sore from the PIO's (I stopped them in March!). I don't know what the right way is to do them. Mine were at room temp. and I would massage it in. I never iced or heated or anything like that. I guess when you stick a needle into you butt too many times it leaves a mark Chat Icon

If you can, try not icing- I never did ( so I don't have anything to compare to) but it honestly was not bad at all with no ice Chat Icon ...You may have just hit "just the right spot"

My butt hurt for a while with the PIO shots. You can try a heating pad and massage after the injection. Do not ice it.

Yeah, I would stop icing. If you put oil in the frig you know what happens to it. Its all staying in your butt, it can't disperse. Be brave, it doesn't hurt, honestly. Massage the area after the shot for at least 5 real minutes then put heat on it. I never had any soreness or bruises etc... I've done it 3 times (though I'm sure if I had to be on it for wks there would be some problems but in 2ww you should be OK). And also make sure that the needle goes in perfectly straight. Good luck!!!
