Sore/Painful backache after epidural?

I just had my son on Sunday night, and I have had a pretty terrible pain/achiness in my back since then. Is it something normal associated with getting an epidural, or does it not sound normal?

I didn't have any back pains, the only side effect I had was being very itchy.

I had a pain in the exact spot of the epidural. I could put my finger on the pain and it was very very annoying. It lasted for a good 3 months or so, although the dr. said that was very unusual. I had to get the epidural inserted twice because they did it wrong the first time...I think that is why I had the pain....

I had bad pain in my back, for months I could pinpoint the spot of my epdidural. The dr. told me to take motrin and it helped. I was told it was from inflammation in the area.

hmm i was only itchy and had a pain in my back for the 2 days i was in the hospital but it went away.

I had tingling for over 10 months. Just now it started to subside where I only feel it once in a while. No pain, just tingling.

I had back pain for a week or two. I was told it is totally normal.

So, DH had to change all the diapers.

I had back pain for about 2 weeks. It wasn't constant but it was when I would sit in certain positions. I also would get it getting in and out of the car and then it would last for a bit.

I had Brody last Friday. I have the same backache. It is excruciating!!! I had the same thing when I had DD 4 years ago. It took about 3 weeks to go away.

My OB only wants me to take motrin. The percoset (sp) in the hospital was the only thing that helped.

i had horrible back pains for months after my epi and then one day they just disappeared. im 8 months pp.

My back was sore in the epidural area for around 3 months. It was triggered to how I sat. I actually was stuck on the floor one day with a 3 month old and 18 month old. I couldn't get up and thank goodness DH was on his way home to help me up. My OB said it can take up to a year sometimes for that soreness to go away and that I might feel more pressure when going up and down stairs.

I had pain in the spot for a while too... now 4 months later I'm finally not feeling any real pains from the whole endeavor. Even the c-section pains are finally gone.

Yes for me it was normal. It took a few weeks to go away and a full year where I didn't get a dull ache on rainy days...
