Sorry - another post about the H1N1 Vaccine
DS got the 1st part of the mist today. DH took him to the dr. I was expecting him to get the shot. Should I expect the same kind of side effects from the mist? The dr. said myabe some congestion.
He goes back in a month for the second half (a week before we leave for Disney) and DD will get her first part then. Will just the first part protect her while we are in Disney, or is it not effective until both parts are given?
Thanks!

Well from what I hear the mist does have more side effects (flu like symptoms) than the shot typically causes. Which is why they don't generally give it to kids who have risk factors (my ped doesn't even offer the mist). So you might see a reaction. I'm not sure I would give the mist shortly before you travel only b.c if he has a reaction it might not be a pleasant flight.
They only partial immunity until they get both shots. I know with the seasonal flu it is 2 weeks after the 2nd shot to have full immunity. I would try to get her a shot now so at least she will have some immunity before she goes (as it takes I think 2 weeks to get the partial immunity from the 1st too) but I could be wrong on that timeline. I just know that they don't get the partial immunity immediately from the 1st shot.
