Sorry --just one more solid-food question....!
Okay, here it goes. Hopefully this will be the last.
What's the best way to feed solids? DS is taking 1/2 jar bananas 2x a day (one time with oatmeal mixed in).....
Do I feed him solids 1st and then offer the bottle? Or the other way around? Or, do I keep these 2 feedings completely separated?
What works best? Help me, BTDT-Mommies!!
TIA

I offered food, then the bottle.
But most people would do the opposite, but my DS was never big on formula.

Honestly it's whatever works for you. DS gets breakfast, lunch, & dinner and then his bottles are spaced out in between...Ive always done it this way. It works out especially well when they can hold their own bottles.

Re: Sorry --just one more solid-food question....!
i have tried it both ways
with my DS if i gave him food first he would drink very little from the bottle. If i gave the bottle first he would drink it and eat.
SO as many have said the bottle is still the primary source of nutrition so i kept doing the bottle first.

this is what I do too, based on the recommendation of the ped. She told me to give him the bottle first thing in the morning and then try to give him solids about an hour to an hour and a half after he finished the bottle. Now, that he has 3 meals, I do:
bottle when he wakes up solid breakfast 2 hours after he started bottle solid lunch bottle around 2:30-3:00 pm solid dinner bottle before bed

Re: Sorry --just one more solid-food question....!
when i first did, i would give my dd an ounce of the formula to easy her hungar so she would then take the cereal and fruit. Then when she got accustomed to the cereal and fruit, i just gave that first then some formula. Then adventually she was getting filled up on the solids and didnt want bottle. So now at almost 9m we give cereal and fruit and then about 3 hours later i give the bottle.

We do food and then bottle, because once the food runs out DS wants more. I did it this way to start so that if he was full he would decrease the amt of formula he was taking not the food, however DS eats all if it! He loves to eat!

We do food 1st and formula afterwards. I want him to focus on food not formula.
