sorry, another baggage question...
I am trying to consolidate luggage, we have so much to bring
my pack and play is 30 lbs, so I am going to be shoving josh's clothes into the pack and play then folding it up and putting the carrier bag on...so that makes me feel better about having to waste a luggage item on that.
next up is this thing
it weighs like 5-7 lbs...total waste of a luggage check, unless I stick it in a laundry bag with mine and leo's clothes...can you check a laundry bag?
I would bring it on the plane at the gate, but we will already have stroller and carseat.(do those count as carry-ons?) I called the airline, she said it doesn't count, but I don't want any surprises

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
When we traveled we checked the stroller at the gate, it didn't count as a carry on since we were not bringing it on the plane.

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
The stroller and car seat do not count as carry ons b/c they "gate check" them. They will tag them and take them from you. At least that is what they told us they will do (we are flying Monday )
JetBlue also told me that DS is allowed a carry on piece of luggage himself (which kinda makes me laugh, but really means my diaper bag doesn't count). I actually ditched my diaper bag for a bigger bag that I am sharing with him and then I am putting my boppy and bjorn in a canvas bag to carry on (DS sleeps in the boppy, must have).
Did you ask about the carrier when you called? Will they let you gate check it?

You could gate check the carrier too- they don't care how many pieces you have to gate check- they are more worried about not having an overhead bin space by that point.

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
Last time we flew the luggage check guy told us that there is no limit for baby items or handicap items. He said you can bring stroller, carseat, pack n play etc and it doesn't count towards your max allotment. So that is what we have done and it has been fine!!

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
dont put in a laundry bag unless the laundry bag closes. they dont accept open luggage. I like your thinking though. How smart is that using a packnplay with the bag and shoving the babys clothes in....good thinking!

Hmm, we were told that we could check 4 pieces of luggage (2 for me and 2 for DH) and if we brought a pack and play, that counted towards that. The we could gate check the stroller and the car seat if they didn't have an available seat and then we could have 3 carry ons.
Maybe it is different for different airlines? We are flying JetBlue.

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
When we flew Delta and Southwest, it was 2 checked bags per person (including babies and children). Any baby gear (PNP, carseats, etc) did not count.
On the last trip we took to Florida, we flew Southwest and checked 4 suitcases, 2 large garment bags, 2 carseats, a cooler (empty), and a double stroller.

When I took Charlie to Florida last winter, I sent most of his stuff ahead of us by UPS and it was waiting at my friends when we got there.

Re: sorry, another baggage question...
On Southwest, we could carry on one carry-on bag, and one "personal" item per ticket, so with DW and I, plus two ticketed DC, we could bring 4 carry-on bags, my laptop, DW's purse, and DS had his own bag of toys. The PNP was checked at the counter, so that counted, but with 8 checked items combined, it wasn't an issue. Stroller and carseats didn't count, especially since the carseat was strapped to their seats anyway, so it didn't take any room, technically.
I would definitely double-check about the "no limits" on baby-related stuff. I think the PNP would count as baggage. Also, make sure it weighs less than 50 lbs with all of the stuff loaded in it. Ours was way under, but I only put a few things in it, and took out the bassinet pieces.
