sorry another post re: Feeding
When do you start doing cereal and stage 1 food twice a day?
Mathias is 5 months...he's been eating rice cereal and veggies since 4 months. I haven't introduced fruits yet because the doctor told me to do veggies first and I still have green beans to go.
I am starting oatmeal tomorrow. Do I stop rice cereal all together?
His schedule now is somewhat like this:
6am - 6.5 ounces of formula
10 am - 2 tspoon of cereal mixed with 1 ounce of milk, 1 veggie, and 2 ounces of milk
2pm - 6.5 formula
6pm - 6.5 formula
10pm - 6.5 formula
and for the last week and half he would wake up at 6 am for feeding but he started waking up again for the middle of the night feeding - 6.5 again.
So I was thinking maybe if I give him cereal at night he might sleep again through the night
Any advice will be appreciated

Re: sorry another post re: Feeding
Hi Chas - I've been giving Megan cereal in morning and at night since for a while now. We also do veggies in morning and at night - I think the oatmeal replaces the rice cereal. Megan never got rice cereal -we skipped right to oatmeal per Dr. Since Megan and Mathias share the same bday, I think its OK to give him cereal at night

Thank you
Do you do both cereal and veggies together .. in the morning and night or do you spread it out. Mathias eats all of his cereal and the whole little container of Stage 1 veggies.
When are you going to start fruits?
So I should replace the 6pm feeding with cereal and veggies?
Does Megan sleep through the night?
HEY...HOW ARE YOU??? lol

Re: sorry another post re: Feeding
I actually mix ½ container of veggies with the 2 tbsp of oatmeal. That seems to fill her up – because if I try to give her anymore she will lose interest. I would add it to the 6 pm feeding.
So Megan gets veggies and oatmeal at 10 am and at 8 pm 8 pm is actually late in the day compared to what others do- Others tend to give solids earlier to make sure DC does not have an allergic reaction, but I enjoy feeding her and since I’m working it’s the only time I can do it.
What I’ve figured out with solids is that there is no RULE book in how its done – every DR has a different theory on introducing it – For ex – my dr said to start with yellow and orange fruits and veggies, your dr said start with veggies and then introduce fruits. I think you just have to figure out what works for you- whether to mix with the cereal or offer it separately – it doesn’t matter – Megan didn’t eat the sweet potatoes until I mixed it with the oatmeal, so that is how I ended up mixing it.
Megan does not always sleep through the night – she generally sleeps 9 pm – 4:30 and then to 7:30. Sometimes she will sleep until 5:30 or even 6:30 , but last night she was up at 4:30 so there is nothing consistent that solids have helped out.
I’m doing good – working FT – Megan is so much fun – we need to have a birthday twin playdate!

Re: sorry another post re: Feeding
thank you...I feed Mathias the cereal and veggies together but not mixed together...you know like one spoon cereal then one spoon of veggie.. and he eats it all and looks like he stays wanting more so that's why I give him the remainder of the milk I mixed to make the cereal.

Re: sorry another post re: Feeding
Ryan is 5.5 months and I just started veggies yesterday. I did rice cereal (he didn't poop for almost a wk), then oatmeal, then barley. He seemed to like oatmeal the best so we're doing 1/2 jar stage 1 with 1 Tbsp oatmeal and 1 ounce or so of BM mixed - mid morning and evening.

Re: sorry another post re: Feeding
thank you all for responding....Mathias eats pretty good...2tsp of cereal and a whole container of veggies and then some left over milk. I just don't want to over feed him...he's a big boy....he was 19 pounds at his 4 month visit.
When should I introduce fruits...I know some mom's give all three at once after they have done it individually to make sure they have no allergies but since he eats all of the container I think I rather do cereal with veggie at one time and cereal and fruits at another time...is there a better time to do the veggie/fruits..like veggies in the morning and fruits at night?
or should I do half of container of veggie and half a container of fruits with cereal...
Someone told me its better that I mix the veggie and fruit so that he doesn't get a preference for the fruit since it taste better??? ever heard of that?
