I know some of you told me last time I posted that in NYC you are not restricted to one school district . I just wanted to make sure and confirm. Is there a website I can go to ?(STARTING AT KINDERGARTEN)
We are looking at a place in Howard Beach and seriously interested. It's school district 27.
Anyone who can give me any info on it ANYTHING would be great and I would appreciate it very much.
Feel free to FM me if you'd like Chat Icon
TIA

I worked in District 27 for a few years.

I do believe you can go to any school in the city, however you can't just say I want to go to "that" school. First preference is given to the students zoned for that specific school, then for children in the district and then if there are any openings available it gets opened to the rest of the city.

From what I remember the elementary schools in Howard Beach were pretty good. But I would have to say that I would not send my child to middle school in District 27 (just my personal opinion from having worked there).

What school in D. 27 are you looking at?

Haven't really looked at one particular school yet. Just wanted to get a general idea.

I think the schools in District 27, more specifically, Howard Beach are good. 146, 207 and 63 are all good elementary schools.

The middle schools get a little tricky-but 202 is a good one.

202 is not great, but now 207 goes to 8th grade which is much better.

I don't think its great..but 2 of my friends teach there, and it's pretty good. 202 is also going to high school soon

If you are zoned for 146, that is a good school that now goes to 8th grade. My niece is in 202 and trying to get back into 146.

I went to 146, and 202 and I am wonderful. . .
