Sorry I know this has been asked before
but I keep forgetting to a search and everytime I remember I'm at work and I'm NOT supposed to be on here.
So please let me ask - how did you transition to milk? DS will be 1 in a couple of weeks ( ) and I have 1 can of formula left and I really don't want to buy more. The ped said I can start milk. Just not sure how to do it. I also want to start weaning him off the bottle.
Right now he gets anywhere from 3 - 5 bottles a day (he's a picker and will only drink small amounts at a time.)
So how do you transition? Did you only use a cup? or put it in the bottle first? Mix it with the formula or just cold turkey? Please share what worked for you!!!
THANKS
I feel so new to this, my DD never drank milk so once again this is a first with my second DC

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
I just replaced one of her bottles with a sippy of milk. I never put milk into the bottle. The transition went well and every day, I reduced the # of bottles and replaced them with sippys of milk

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
DS is a picky eater/drinker so I used the mixing method. I did it in a few days. I make teh entire day's batch at once since I need to pack his daycare bottles. Started of with 3/4 formula and 1/4 milk, next day did 1/2 and 1/2 adn the following day I did 1/4 formula and 3/4 milk and last day was all milk. I actually think he likes whole milk better than formula.
He has had a bit of constipation since teh switch so I have been adding 1 ounce water to 8 ounces milk. Its helped. I also told his daycare to give him some water (3-4 ounces) each day and it has helped.

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
I think at first I mixed it half milk half formula, but I switched to all milk pretty quickly. I put in her bottle at first and then transitioned to the sippy cup soon after that. And we had no constipation problems.

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
since we transitioned at 1 year we still used the bottle. She took 8 ounce bottles- so we would put in 2 oz milk 6 oz formula for a week- then go to 4/4.. etc.. until it was all milk.
HOpe this helps.

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
I started mixing in the milk 2oz at a time over like 3-4 days.
I can't believe Jack is going to be ONE!

Formula in the morning and then milk through out the day. Once the formula ran out milk all the time. I did this around 11 months so I used a combination of sippy & bottle.
eta: no constipation that I can remember.

Re: Sorry I know this has been asked before
We switched cold turkey. Instead of giving him formula in his sippy cups, I gave him milk. He didn't seem to care.
