Sorry to barge...need Pediatrician help from BTDT moms
I am delivering at Winthrop & I currently work in this neighborhood, but my office is moving soon & I think I need to find a Ped. closer to where I live rather than where I work.
1- Does it matter that the Ped in the hospital will not be my Ped long-term?
and
2- Does anyone have any Ped. recommendations in the Babylon area?

It doesn't matter. When I delivered, I didn't have a pedicatrician.
The hosptial pediatrician is the one who checks out the baby. If your pedicatrician is associated with the hospital, he'll check out the baby too. Otherwise, he'll see the baby within 1-2 days after you're discharged for weight checks, etc.
Sorry no recommendations. I'm not familiar with Babylon.

Since I'm not in NY I have no ped. reccomendations but we had a different ped. see Miranda in the hospital. It wasn't a big deal. They just do the standards check over in order to discharge the baby.

The ped we chose was not affiliated with LIJ and it was fin. My obgyn recommended someone to use just for the hospital then we saw the other a few days later at th office. I live in the Babylon area and go to a ped in Commack. I will give you the info if you want.

My ped didn't see the boys until they were released from the hospital.
I use Dr Hitner in North Babylon

My ped. was not affiliated with the hospital I delievered in. The ones that were making rounds checked her during her stay and then we took the discharge papers to our ped once we were discharged.

Both times I delivered (at two different hospitals) my pediatrician was not affiliated with the hospital. However, each time he was familiar with in house doctors and called to ask them to see my baby during rounds. So ask your pediatrician if they know anyone on staff at the hospital you will be delivering at.

University Plaza Pediactrics has an office in Garden city as well as Babylon and they are affliated with Winthrop if you are interested.
