Sorry to be gross--need BTDT Mommy Advice: Diarrhea accompanied by a rash, which i think are hives.

DD has been home since Thurdsay with diarrhea and vomiting. There have only been 2-3 episodes of the vomiting and the diarrhea is considered moderate because she is going 4-8 times a day. The doctor said to let it run its course and if wasn't better by today, to call him.

So this morning she seemed fine. She was rejectin g her water but she would graze on cheese, crackers, bread, bananas, little pieces of turkey etc.

I gave her a bath and put her in PJs and gave her bedtime milk, but she didn't want to to sleep, so we let her stay up with us for another hour. In that hour, she had a massive diarrhea diaper. When i was taking off her PJs, I noticed all of these red bumps on her chest and belly area. There were probably 5-6 red bumps ranging in size from a pencil point to a pencil eraser to a dime. Clearly there is an allergy going on. Now tomorrow is sunday and the practice is closed. Should DH and I just bring her to the ER of the hospital our practice is affiliated with (We can actually walk there in about 10 minutes.) Or wait for a call back from a doctor who may or may not tell us to bring her in on monday.

If you have benedryl I would give her that and see if it goes away.

I do have benedryl. I remember a doctor once telling me i could use it for hives, but I didn't realize it works for babies as well.

As long as it is children's it will be fine and work.

I know when my DD was between 20-25lbs I would give her 3/4's of tsp. Once she was over 25lbs I gave her 1tsp.

I, personally, am allergic to benadryl - go figure - but if there's no history of it in your family, maybe try it.....what about calling the dr??

I was going to suggest calling your dr's emergency #. I hope this am its better!

poor baby... I would call the dr #. DD is 13 months old and broke out in hives a few weeks ago from an antibiotic. Ped said to give her infant benadryl.
