Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
Hi Ladies,
I am in the midst of registering. Can you tell me about how long you used or plan on using your pack and play for and when you use it.
Did you find it to be useful? Did you get a basic one? We are already getting bassinetts so I don't really need it for that.
Thanks

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I couldn't do without it. If you have a big house, it's nice to have another place to put a sleeping baby, or to have another changing table for those first few months. (The diapers are explosive the first few months and you wants of areas to do a quick change and not drip poop.)
When the baby gets bigger and really starts moving, you need a place to put them so you can use the bathroom, get dressed, cook dinner, clean. It really helps to have them in one spot, so they don't get hurt.
We still use ours at 22 months for when we travel or he needs to sleep at someone's house when we visit.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I kept the bassinet up in my bedroom and the pack n play downstairs in the living room. I used the bassinet top part in it for naps when DS was small. Once he was bigger he would play in the bottom part - and as he got bigger (close to a year) we basically used the bottom for storage. Also I used the changing table part all the time so I didn't have to run upstairs for every diaper change. We used it til he was about a year old and IMO it was worth it. If I had a 1 level house it might have been different but for us it was great.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
Do you have a two story house? Honestly, that's the only time I used mine. I kept it downstairs and used it for changing DD and for naps when she was very small. Other than that, it became a junk collector. But, I know a lot of people who used it a lot! That's just my experience.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
We were originally going to use the bassinet part of it for the baby...well Kaydyn hated it. Our apt is only one floor so we really didn't have a need for the changing table part so we packed it away until she was crawling.
Once she was moving around it was nice to have a place for her to sit and play if we had to run out of the room for a few mins. She is 17 months and we still use it every single day.
If your bedrooms are on a different floor it might be nice to set it up so you have a place to change them without going upstairs.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
DD is almost two and we still have it set up in the office/playroom.
At home, we use it mainly as a downstairs changing table. DD never slept in it for naps, etc.
However, we travel a lot and have company a lot and she sleeps in it then.
So, for us it has been useful. We actually have a second one, and that one we used for outside. I would put DD in it with toys while I was gardening, etc.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I have a 3 story house and use my pack n play everyday. I keep it in my living room that way I dont have to run upstairs for diaper changes. DS is 7 months and just hit 15 lbs so we have been using the bassinet part for naps for a very long time! I dont plan on putting the pack n play away for a while.

We have a 2 story house and their bedroom will be upstairs.
I should probably get one that has the changing table part on it right?
Thanks

yes, thats what we used it for in the beginning. Now it is his crib when we travel, which has been pretty often. He also had a pack & play at my moms house to use as a crib there.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
we started using it once DD was able to sit up and play on her own. We use it when we cant keep an eye on her like if i am in the shower or cleaning, etc. We also use it if we are at someones house all day - she naps in it

I knew you had a big house, but I completely forgot you were having twins! Where is my head?
You may really need one, just to keep your sanity.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I used it for DS to sleep in for the first 12 weeks. Then he came into bed with us until 7 months when we moved to his crib.
Now it is at my inlaws to use for naps when we are there.
We got a VERY basic one (no changing station or anything).

Yes definitely - you don't want to be carrying both babies up and down the stairs to change a diaper.
Mine hated it in the beginning, but use it now. I think as they get older I'll get even more use out of it when I use it as a play yard.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I still use it everyday. We got one with all of the bells and whistles. We don't use all of them but we got them. Don't get the super cheap basic ones, because they are actually smaller than some of the others. The slightly bigger size will be beneficial.

I would skip th4e bassinets and just get the pack and play. One that comes with a basinnet on top! You might be able top put them both in together at first. I used my basinet for about 6 weeks. I feel that it was such a waste.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
My pack and play lives at my sister's house- Aidan sleeps in it there during the week. We registered for one with all of the bells and whistles. We never used any of it. If I could do it again, I would register for a basic model.

DD is almost 18 months & I don't plan on putting it away any time soon. I also use it for time out since DD won't sit in one spot for me yet.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
We just packed it up and only plan to use it when we travel...DD just turned one this week..It was a STAPLE in our house this first year. Now that DD is walking (sometimes running) we cannot cage her..she is all over the place It was great downstairs as a bassenet and LOVED it as the extra changing table. Once we took the bassinette out she liked it but we needed to do other things so it was good to keep her confined but now at one year the place is hers.. exhausting but loving every minute...Kath enjoy your summer and happy planning for the twins.
PS I did a lot of registry stalking what my friends that are moms put on their registry..it helped..also took that baby bargain book with me and made lots of notes too.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
If you have a big house with an upstairs/downstairs I would def. get one with a bassinet and changing table feature. We packed ours away when DD was about 9 months and only use it for traveling now. But before that I used it every day for naps (when she was an infant) and changing her when downstairs.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I only used mine to travel with. I mostly entertained them with: gymini, Einsteins DVD's, sitting in the Boppy, Reading to them, playing with toys with them while they sit in their bouncys. Now that they are starting to sit we get on the floor and play on a blanket.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I used it for the bassinet, and now for the changing table.DD hates to play in it. She looks out of the net sides like she is in jail. We are going to use it in September to bring to her daycare for her naps. I'll be glad to get it out of our small apt.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I couldn't imagine not having a pack n play. Up until DS was at least 11 months used it in our living room....for everything from diaper changes, naps, and just hanging out. We use it when we spend the night out now too. IMO it's a necessity

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
She slept in it for the first 10 weeks of her life, then I brought it to the babysitter.
Now she sleeps in it when she goes to grandma's house.. I think it's a necessity.
