Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
DS is 10 1/2 months and we still use it everyday. Our bedrooms are on the 2nd floor so we keep it on the main level for DS to hang out in while I am doing something and he needs to be "contained". I also had a guest sleep over the other night so I dragged it upstairs and he slept in it in my room. Ours has the changing and bassinet parts but he outgrew it (I think it goes up to 15 lbs?)

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
We use our pack and play all the time. I actually have 2 now because my DD is 8 months and my DS 20 months. We have a pack and play set up in our living room and my 8 month uses it all the time for naps and playing. We all use both pack and plays all the time when we sleep away from home.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I got a Graco PNP with bassinet and changing table. I intended to keep it in my room as use it for a while b/c I was BFing. Then, I planned to put it downstairs and use it for naps.
All plans went out the window after DS was born. He hated the PNP and wouldn't sleep in it. I used the changing table for about a month b/c our furniture hadn't come in yet. I hope to use it with future children though so I can't say it was a complete waste. Besides the crib, which he also hates, it's definitely the least used big ticket item.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I honestly never used the pack n play for other than changing her as a newborn. I didn't use a bassinet, so she did sleep for a short time in the top part. I didn't use it at all past 3 months. I did bring it once to my SIL's since she was sleeping over.

I have 2! DD sleeps in it at Grandmas, Friends etc. Its really handy when others come over as well so they don't have to bring one. I also used it outside in the summer under our umbrella.

I couldn't do without it. If you have a big house, it's nice to have another place to put a sleeping baby, or to have another changing table for those first few months. (The diapers are explosive the first few months and you wants of areas to do a quick change and not drip poop.)
When the baby gets bigger and really starts moving, you need a place to put them so you can use the bathroom, get dressed, cook dinner, clean. It really helps to have them in one spot, so they don't get hurt.
We still use ours at 22 months for when we travel or he needs to sleep at someone's house when we visit.
Exactly what she said!

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
Unless someone already bought you a bassinet, I would just use the Pack n Play bassinet. No need for both. We used the Pack n Play until he was almost 5 months as a bassinet, then moved him to the crib. After that, I used it as a playard briefly--he didn't really like being in it and once he learned to crawl, no way he was staying in that thing for a long time.
But we also use it as a sleeping space for overnight trips, and I still use it in the morning when I shower and later in the day if I need to put DS somewhere secure. So it was worth it IMO.

Kathleen-
There is such a thing as a "twin" pack and play.
Ive seen it before... it has two bassinets on the top that keeps the babies separate

Same here, our house is not huge but it is a 2 story. It was nice to have some where downstairs to keep them confined or to put them down for a nap. I was so sad to pack ours away 2 months ago (DS was 26 months).

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
DS was in our room the first few nights home from the hospital so he was in the PNP during that time...plus every day for naptime while I was home.
Now we use it when we travel or when he's away from home.
I did find it to be useful and I was happy to have it. I got a basic one but later learned you can get one that vibrates....that might have been helpful.

Re: Sorry to crash-Pack and Play question
I live in an apartment and could not live without my pack N play. We have it in the living room. Now that my son is mobile we need to be able to put him somewhere that he is safe (not going to roll off the mats onto the floor). etc.
I HIGHLY recommend you getting one.
