Sort of a tough situation
I'm having a dinner after my graduation on Sunday. I invited a few friends from school. I figured the ones who are also graduating that day wouldn't come b;c they'd be with their families, but one very good friend IS coming even though it's his graduation too, because he has a very strained relationship with his fam (drugs, divorce, etc). Do you think I should make an announcement and/or have a little cake for him too? I sort of feel bad since it's his grad day too, and the party's all about me. However, I don't want to take away from what my mom wants to do for me, and moreso, I don't want to make him uncomfortable or conspicuous in front of my family that he's not with his family, they will ask him, or he might feel embarassed, etc. I could also just give him a card and gift or something privately. What do you think I should do?

That never actually occurred to me. haha
If I asked him, he'd just say "don;t do anything for me" cause he's that kind of guy. He's very low key and he never asks for anything.
