do you think that the dryer shrinks jeans? My DH is insisting that his jeans are shrinking because I dry them. I dry them on med heat. Mine seem fine. I told him maybe it's him eating too much. Chat Icon Chat Icon

No, but I still only dry them 1/2 way then hang them out because I hate having to "stretch" them all the way back out. Unless on some jeans that always seem to get so big after 1 wear.

Re: sort of spinoff to washing clothes

No way, I put all of my jeans in the dryer on low heat and they don't shrink. They tighten up a bit but once I put them on again, they start to relax pretty quickly.

Re: sort of spinoff to washing clothes

I think the opposite. I think they DO shrink jeans. I think it depends on the brand of jeans too.

I line dry all of my jeans, and now DH's too. I can totally see his Old Navy jeans shrinking in length, so I would imagine they shrink around the hips/tummy/butt too.

I dont want to risk it with our more expensive jeans, so I line dry all of them.

The cheap ones I'll throw in the dryer b/c I don't care as much about them.

I dry them on low; by the time I wear them once, they are back to normal.

I DO think the dryer shrinks your clothes...with certain fabrics I dry them on low for 20 minutes and then let them air dry (jeans, knits, dress cotton).

IMO, jeans shrink even if you put them on low heat. they stretch out again after 5 minutes of wearing them.

I think they shrink in the dryer

-- sometimes if I am wearing my jeans for like 10 days in a row (gross I know) I have to wash them just to shrink them up a bit, b/c they get baggy

-or if they just get out of the dryer, I put them on and do squats because they are too snug Chat Icon

I also think they shrink. But I also think the dryer shrinks all my cloths. At first I thought it was because our dryer was 30 years old and didnt work well but with a new dryer still shrinkin. I try to hang dry my pants

my jeans shrink if I dry them-- I usually hang dry them unless I want them to shrink a bit-- they do stretch out after you wear them-- but only if I can get into them!
