Sorta of TTC related- doggie sitting a dog with giardia.
Ok, so my brother got a puppy the other day. His vet just called him to tell him he has giardia which is an intestinal bacteria that you can get by drinking contaminated water...anyway..symptoms may include diarrhea, vomitting etc. The puppy is not showing any of these symptoms (thank goodness) and my brother will be starting him on treatment heres my question...
My brother will be going away for 4 days next week. Prior to knowing the pup had giardia I had agreed to watch him. I have to concerns, 1-I have two dogs of my own and Im afraid of them catching anything and 2- I will be in my 2WW and if I am by chance pregnant I dont want to be infected. I know the chances of getting this infection passed on from dog to human is slim but WWYD? Would you still watch the dog or say sorry bro?

I wouldn't worry about it. If he is starting the meds now then in a few days the bacteria should be killed off and the remaining treatment is to keep it away.
My puppy had it when I was TTC and never even thought about it.

My dog had it and it is very difficult to get it from dogs. Your own dogs I would just be careful that they don't get it.

Thats what I thought. Now, do you think I should still say no because of the pups. I really dont want them to catch anything :( I read that its only transmitted if they eat his poop.

Ugh, this is so annoying. I told my brother to ask him vet and see what he says. Hopefully it will be alright. Thanks again!
