Sorta Spin Off-- Who is always stressed and anxious?
And do you take anything for it? What makes you feel better?
I cannot take the constant worrying and stress anymore-- and my life is not THAT complicated yet (meaning no kids, etc.), but I do have a stressful job.

Exercise!!!
Seriously, I run every day after work and I feel great after. It doesn't always have to be a long run either - 10/15 minutes can definitely decrease stress.
Feel better!

Re: Sorta Spin Off-- Who is always stressed and anxious?
Me. It's horrible and I'm trying to work on it. It's like I NEED something to worry about or stress over, or else I'm shocked things are going well. Now, it's my new job on Monday.
Usually, talking helps. Drinking is good, too. Ballet is the best. When I'm there, I think of nothing else but what I'm doing. My mind is clear, and I need that.

I used to take Xanex but it made me worse. I started doing Yoga & other wholistic treatments & found much better relief.

Re: Sorta Spin Off-- Who is always stressed and anxious?
I live in a general state of stress and anxiety, but I don't know anything else, so it's just kind of normal to me. I did see a psychiatrist a couple of years ago (while I was also in therapy), and we decided that I didn't really need meds b/c I can function fairly normally. She did suggest that I take meds before really high stress situations, such as job interviews (I have some serious performance anxiety), but I haven't gone that route yet.

I'm always stressed. I don't have any suggestions. I'm convinced until I make life changes (for me finishing my dissertation so I won't have to spend all my free time on it), I will be stressed.

Re: Sorta Spin Off-- Who is always stressed and anxious?
I agree excercise is GREAT for that. in the last 6 months I have gotten a lot more anxious but my stress level has pretty much stayed the same.
If all else fails, Xanax is tghe greatest thing ever but I wouldn't take it every day. It makes ya kind of sleepy.

Re: Sorta Spin Off-- Who is always stressed and anxious?
Thanks for everyone's responses.
I know I need to make some changes in my life-- but, it is so hard to find the time and energy. I think I probably have acute depression and I have never really seen anyone. I think exercise will help too.
But I also get anxious about really stupid things-- someone walking too close to me on the sidewalk, the train not stopping with the door RIGHT in front of me, stress over little things like dialing the wrong phone #, etc. It's the anxiety that really worries me-- stress comes and goes though.

I have depression/anxiety and I recently started taking Lexapro for it. It's only been about a month, but I've seen a noticeable difference. Maybe you should talk to your doctor?

what kind of doctor would I talk to-- my gyno? Can they prescribe an anti-anxiety medication? Or do I need to find like a psychologist?

Me, I'm never stressed. Running works wonders for me too. People don't understand the power of good ol' fashioned exercise sometimes.

i think exercise can help, but i think it's often genetics/personality that determine whether we are stressed/anxious or not.

you are a special case.
exercise can definitely help for stress, anxiety is a completely different animal.
meds can help with chemical imbalance issues, but there are other anxiety triggers that are better helped with therapy.
talk to your MD, and to a therapist to see which direction you'd like to go in.

I spoke with my general practitioner. They can either prescribe medicine for you or they can recommend a psychiatrist. I just opted for mine to prescribe for me, because I don't need to speak with anybody. I know that what I'm feeling is mostly due to postpartum depression.
