Sorta Spinoff---Working with family members?
The office I work in, hired one of my co-workers children (who is 19) 2 months ago.
Since she has started, it has been a little strained and uncomfortable. I am her superviser, and I feel like I cannot critique anything she does because her mother always has something to say about it.
Sometimes the way the kid talks to her mom, make us cringe..and other days it sounds like they are arguing...
Today was a weird day, one of the managers asked the kid why she was doing something, since she was apparently not trained that way, and then the mom and the kid got defensive, and very cold twards most of the rest of the office...
Its getting to be very uncomfortable..how to deal?

completely inappropriate behavior and mom isn't doing daughter any favors by acting this way. She's proving to be quite unprofessional and teaching her daughter the same.
You'll have to continue superivsing the daughter and if mom has anything to say, I'd let her know that it's not open for discussion or speak with her supervisor about her behavior.

The mom should not in anyway be involved in the daughter's work - and should not be speaking to it. She is just another employee and should be treated as such.

I know she should not be acting that way, and thats what makes me so uncomfortable. I am in a new position in being her daughters supervisor, so that makes it difficult for me also.
