Sorta Spinoff to Confession Post-- Who lives in an apt?

So, when lurking on the prego board, I see all these pics of nurseries. We live in an 1100 sq. ft 2BR condo, where the second bedroom is an office/den.

I think when we have a baby, we'll just get a crib and a changing table-- maybe even just one of those pack and play things. We'll probably only be here for a year after we had a kid anyway.. When we move, we'll go all out for a kids room. I guess that's why I don't look at baby furniture, etc. now.

Anyone else not planning on "doing up" a full blown nursery"?

We live in a 2br apartment with our DD. It looks like she'll be sharing a bedroom if I get preggo anytime in the near future. It's not a huge room & it may be a bit cramped, but we'll make do. I shared a room with DD for the first 2 years of her life until we got married & moved into our current apartment.

You and i live in the same life.
DH and i have a 2 bedroom co-op. We chose to live here well after baby is born bc to us, its is way more important that we can afford for me to stay home for 1-2 yrs as opposed to having a huge mortgage where my salary would be necessary.

Our 2nd bedroom too is an office. We will make it a babys room.

We're also in a 2 bedroom condo. We plan on living here until summer of next year, then moving OOS to buy a house that we can afford!

well, when it comes time to sell this place and buy a house, we will end up there... Rather be close to family and have multiple baby sitters!

We live in a 3 bedroom apartment that is quite large. We knew we coldnt afford to buy when we got married though we planned to have children as soon as we were able. Thus we looked for and found a very large apartment (at a very good price) where we could put a child in its own room. Making that child took a lil longer than expected and the "baby room" has piles of stuff in it, but we will be dumping a lot of it. We will be doing a full nursery because we have the space.

Re: Sorta Spinoff to Confession Post-- Who lives in an apt?

When DS was born I was still living with my parents. We lived in one room. We fit everything but it was cramped.

Now we live in a 2 bdrm apt. DS has the biggest room so I will be putting the changing table in his room. I want to get the type of changing table that is also a dresser.
The bassinet/pack and play will go in our room.

We've made it work before when we had no room Im sure we can work it out again.

We are planning to rent a whole house soon, then the new baby will have its own room.

We are renting a house at the moment. But I can't see decorating the room to the nine until we have our own place. the room we have will be alittle cramped.

Re: Sorta Spinoff to Confession Post-- Who lives in an apt?

We are even in a worse situation. We live in a ONE bedroom house. We can't afford to renovate it right now and we can't afford to move because we bought this house at the tippy top of the market and we would lose money on it if we left now.
So we have an alcove in our room that we are going to paint and put a curtain divider in (with swags so we can keep it open, if we want) and the baby will bunk with us for the first year. Then we will get a new house/expand this one.
Listen people do it in NYC all the time. We are spoiled living on LI. Don't worry it will be fine.

Re: Sorta Spinoff to Confession Post-- Who lives in an apt?

We have a 3 bedroom apt above my parents house. It works for us now and when we do have a baby I will have my mom downstairs to watch the baby! The hope is that we can eventually purchase their home when they are ready. We have a spare room that will be the nursery. I can't wait to decorate!

We can't even have a baby where we live now-we live in a two room apt. (bedroom/living room are same room). We hope to start looking for bigger place towards the fall.

We live in a 1 bedroom. But we will be statying there until next spring anyways, then buying a house. So, no we won't be making a nursery, just a crib in our bedroom.
