who are the drs?
I found all my ob's I wait about an hour for, thats the nature of the practice, but Im willing to understand if they are apologetic and are good dr's otherwise..thats really important........
eta- especially in your current situation, you should be 120% comfortable with the Dr's treating you.
Good luck of you switch.
I was briefly at Comprehensive OBGYN in East Islip and I liked them.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
I used to see Dr. Lockhart. I loved her but hated the office. I would wait up to 2 hrs. sometimes. It also took forever to get appts.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
I use them. I absolutely hate the wait!!!!! They seriously need to do something about that. I mainly see Dr. Gubert. I don't care for Dr. Miller but the rest are ok. Dr. Hirt ended up delivering my baby in June. I thought about switching but the only way I will really be happy is if I use a one doctor practice, so as of now, I decided to stay. Good luck whatever you decide.

I go to Dr. Scott Berlin in Islip on Main St.
I love him. He is very calm and relaxed. It is a father son practice but the father no longer deals with pregnancy's just him. He is great and I never have to wait too long.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
Ii have to tell u---I went with my friend to her doc yesterday and its Dr. Judge on main street in Islip and he is sooooooooooooo unreal...if I was not so far in I would have switched immed...I adored him. I like my doctors though--and call me lucky---or maybe I will jinx myself for my appt today but I never waited past my first appt. One time it was one hour--and then now one week shy of 6 months--never waited longer then 10 mins--im out in 1.2 hour.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
Nicole, there are a few good doctors there, but be careful at that office. They misdiagnosed myself AND my mother. My mom's PAP came up fine and one week later she had a hysterectomy where they found Stage III Cervical Cancer. They also told me I didn't have endometriosis after doing surgery, when I did...and I Had to have another surgery due to their mistake.
Just be careful...there are too many doctors there and I really feel that although a select few I have heard great things about, they don't treat everyone as a person, you are just another number there. If you need another rec for an ob nearby I will give you my doc's info...they are right up the road from there.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
My mom & sisters went to that group, mainly Dr. Hirt. The only problem they have is that if you are not pregnant, it takes forever to get an appointment. OB patients are priority.

I absolutely hate South Bay OBGYN in west Islip. The wait there is ridiculous!! I never was seen at my appointment time my average wait was always 1 1/2 - 3 hrs!!! Plus the long wait in the room. I switched about 2 years ago!!

Do you mean in West Islip? I used to go there. I saw Dr. Amarata and I'm not sure if she's still there. I hated it there.
I now go to Comprehensive OB-GYN also in West Islip. I see Dr. Ketcham and I love him! I also saw the new female ob there and she was soooo sweet. They delivered my sister's last baby and she was extremely happy with the practice.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
Although I am not preggers I do see Dr. Judge at South Shore. He is amazing. Although the wait is outrageous, he has caught many things other drs. have not. He has a personality too! I just saw him last night, people were waiting a long time. But I feel its worth it!

Re: south shore ob-gyn
I go there, and although I have not experienced the long wait, they are rather quick and not so comprehensive which makes me nervous. I heard that Lockhart is good, though.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
I used to go to South Bay and had a doctor who I liked, then she moved and then wouldn't give me ANY info about her. I HATED the wait. Between the waiting room and the examining room, I was there for 3 hours each visit and the exam was usually only 10-15 minutes.
When I finally caught up with the doctor who I LOVED there (Dr. Macco) she admitted that it was the lack of organization that led her to leave. Unfortunately Dr. Macco moved to Manhattan.
I am now with the Stonybrook Midwives and very happy.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
If you are talking about South Bay ob-gyn I went there (I am not PG or TTC but just for regular check ups) and had some horrible experiences. One dr. made a borderline obsene comment to my mother at her appt. and I felt very uncomfortable that they don't have nurses in the room when male drs. are doing vaginal checks and checking breasts.

Re: south shore ob-gyn
I go there... I know the wait is sooo long sometimes but i love them.. I see dr. lockhart, but recently I have been going to whoever is on, so they know me.. I usually take 8 am appts. and Im out in 20 min. Big appts. like sonos and others I make later cause of DH and thats where I wait the most. Other then that- routine appts. are early in the am. there better then.
