Re: Soy bad for you??
Don't believe it - I've been eating mostly soy products for 5 years now, and I've never been healthier. In fact, I just had my yearly check-up and the doc remarked on what good shape I'm in, including all the results from my bloodwork. I got pregnant with my first with no problems and delivered a very, very healthy baby girl. Not to mention, there's an entire country of seriously healthy people who mainly subsist on soy products - the japanese.
With everything else, I say everything in moderation...

Re: Soy bad for you??
I didn't read the whole thing, but I have heard about the phytoestrogens in soy being a problem before. I read the book The Estrogen Effect, it talks about how infertility is on the rise and suggests it's due in part to all the extra estrogen-like molecules in our environment. One of the things they mentioned is soy- the phytoestrogens in soy are molecules that are so similar to estrogen that they can activate the same receptors in our body and cause the same effects. I forgot, but I think they don't activate it as strongly as actual estrogen does.
I remember what I got out of that book is that it's almost impossible to not be exposed to extra pseudoestrogens (any of these compounds that act like estrogen)- it's in our drinking water, but it also leaches out of the bottles of bottled water, it's in the milk from cows treated with hormones and antibiotics, but it's also in soy.
Sorry to get off topic, but I guess they have a valid point (although the website seems to be too alarmist for my taste!)- soy isn't a perfect food, and you shouldn't eat too much of any one type of food, even soy. Thanks for the link!

Re: Soy bad for you??
I think TOO MUCH soy is not good. People in Asia consume soy every day and have some of the lowest cancer rates. People in American hear "Oh, soy is good for you" and they jump on another diet bandwagon and start consuming soy morning, noon and night. Soy protein bars, soy milk, soy ice cream, soy protein shakes twice a day, tofu for dinner, tofu in desserts, soy pills for heat flashes. Well, guess what? Yeah, too much of something will do some harm. Look at the woman who died from drinking too much water!

Re: Soy bad for you??
This website looks very propaganda-ish to me, but I will say that there is soy in everything - it is used for for filler in everything - you must eat organic, non genetically modified soy, or yes, it is not good for you...
But, I'm a vegan, and I have had no fertiltiy problems, and am very healthy. I also was vegan my entire pregnancy, and Cailen is perfectly healthy...
ETA - I can NOT believe they added the link about the crazy parents who starved their 6 wk old because they were vegan and fed him soy milk and juices. Those parents were crazy and negligent - had nothing to do with being vegan.
