Not dumb at all! It can be done!

There is a method to doing this but very hard to explain in writing, for me at least.

You will need the following:

Spackle
Spackle Tape
Spackle Knife
Pan
Sand Paper
Drop cloth
Paint

Go to Home Depot to the paint department and ask one of the salesmen.

Sand, sand, sand.

when you think youre done, sand some more.

The worst thing EVER is tape marks!!

Get a sanding block, it's easier than just a sheet of paper.

Also, it may take several coats of spackle and a couple of days. I had to do the corners of my closet and I think I did like 3 or 4 coats of spackle. It is best to apply a thin coat.

Good point! A sanding block can be a small piece of 2x4.

Re: Spackle & Taping

Just make sure you cover things with a dropcloth because when you sand, that dust gets EVERYWHERE and is very hard to clean up.
