Spastic Movement - Normal?

I think I will constantly worry about my DS - he's 3.5 months old and still hasn't outgrown the spastic movements. For instance, his hands kind of shake when he goes to reach for something and he kind of kicks funny too. Is this normal or do I have to be concerned about a neurological problem too???

I suggest videotaping it & bringing it to your pediatrician. I know that my niece had something similar but outgrew it rather quickly. It doesn't sound like the same thing.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DS used to get a shiver like movement quite often and it scared me too. he's 10 months old now and still does it but not as often at all. I told the pediatrician about it and she wasn't concerned. She wrote it in his chart and just told me that I should keep an eye on it but it's probably just the developement of his nervous system. I'm sure that it's normal. Definately bring it up just so it's on file but it's probably developement.

Yes, he had a CT scan and ultrasound in the NICU and everything came back normal. I had a follow up appt with Atluru scheduled but I had to cancel it b/c he was in the hospital last week. Couldnt get another appointment until the beginning of February. I vascillate between being convinced that he has CP and that he is just a high needs baby. He literally meets almost all 12 criteria of high needs! Lord help me get through this infancy stage. When he sits up at 6 months I'll breathe a small sigh of relief.
