Speaking of birthday cakes...
I'm a bad, bad mommy. I have the hall, I have the dress, but I have no cake! Her bday party is on Sunday, and I want to order a cupcake cake. Any suggestions? I'm willing to travel anywhere from the North Fork to Smithtown, north shore or south shore. TIA!

Go to Dortoni's in Levittown, thats where I went for Julia's cupcakes, I hope they can do it by sunday....

I called them today. They will give you the cupcake tower with a $50 deposit (returnable).
I have the prices of the cupcakes written down at work.
I think they said $1.25/basic cupcake; $5 with fondant.
They had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about the crown & castle on the cake.
Melissa - where those plastic? They look like they were made of icing.

Geez, you know what, I think I might just make this myself. I'm pretty good with that stuff. I don't think I have the patience to rent stuff, return stuff, pay extra for someone else to do what I can do stuff. Not that my cupcakes will look nearly as nice, but still, I'm pretty crafty! Let the research begin!

I did some of that too but then I remembered I burned the cupcakes the last time.
Michael's cupcake ideas
This is one of the best ones I found - the butterfly ones were a PITA to make but came out cute.
eta. If that fails, you can buy hostess cupcakes, rip the tops off & frost 'em. Then not only does it make you look like an excellent baker but you put frosting in the middle too.

Oooh! Thanks for the link! I'm envisioning chocolate cupcakes, raspberry filling, white icing and different colored fondant polka dots. Ya know, cause I have nothing else to do, right? No, but seriously, it didn't even dawn on me until now that I could make them. I'm oddly excited about the work that lies ahead!

Thanks ladies. I'm thinking of doing this for my family party for the boys. Who doesn't love a cupcake? I only need about 25... hmmm.

rach, if you decide not to do the cupcake tower the pathmark over by wehere you used to live makes awesome cakes and puts pictures on them too. we did that for olivia's birthday and it wasnt expensive.
