Speaking of bridal showers..

Just got an invite for one of DH's friends showers and I am checking out their registry...

They are registered at Barney's. Who registers at Barney's?? And to give a little insight as to what's on the registry... a "Dom Perignon Pitcher" for $584. Who buys stuff like that???

I am certainly not a cheapo and appreciate the finer things in life-- but, what gives?

no-- they are registered at Williams Sonoma too-- but, I don't like to really buy someone like two cookie sheets as a shower gift... I like to get something with a little more personality, or enough small things to make a nice complete gift.

I'll figure something out-- but, found the registry interesting... Different strokes I guess.

How about an ensemble like a hand mixer, baking sheets, baking tins, measuring bowl, then boxes of Duncan Hines cake mix, brownies, icing.

yrs ago I was invited to a shower where they were registered at Tiffany's and Bloomingdales. the things on their registry were outrageous IMO. I just got them a GC to Bloomies.

Well, if they are ridiculously rich I can see registering there. If they are nomal, like the rest of us, they will have to expect a lot of gift cards and less gifts because everyone will be chipping in for one item.

the WS registry doesn't really have many small things either. Also, this is DH's friend... I met her two or three times. So the shower gift will definitely be more on the modest side.

Re: Speaking of bridal showers..

I've gotten tons of compliments in the ensemble gift. I got one at my shower too (glasses, ice bucket and martini shaker). I look at it this way, you're married already, you know what works and what doesn't. I look at registries now and think what the #ell are they thinking? But they just don't know what they will need if they've never lived outside of mommy and daddy yet.

Then in the long run, If she doesn't like what you got her, she can return it. Chat Icon

Re: Speaking of bridal showers..

yeah-- I can definitely put together a gift.. already have the ideas percolating.

My reaction to the registry is more so-- some people just don't know how to register!
