Speaking of kids at weddings...

I just got the Save My Date for my brother's wedding in VA.

The same brother who visited ONCE since Alex was born. Who visited my father ONCE in 10 years. Who didn't call to check on him when he got out of open heart surgery for FIVE days. Who didn't help an iota when I was taking care of my father in my home. Who refused to come up for a day to help me move my father. The same brother who showed up in a kilt to my wedding, and left within 45 minutes of the reception to go "see the town" with his girlfriend.

I'm secretly hoping they have a "no-kids" wedding so I have a perfectly legitimate excuse to decline.

I think you have enough reason to decline as is but I would go with Alex, regardless of kids or not, and make sure she had the loudest, ugliest PJs you can find so she can rock them out on the dance floor!

I think you should come wearing tight leather outfits, being sure to stress just how genuine the leather is. Bring your own meat and styrofoam cups and tell him that while you don't normally like meat, you felt in honor of the day, you would indulge.

Personally I wouldn't go at all. He sounds so selfish and inconsiderate. He couldn't come up for a day to help you move your Dad and now he expects you to travel for his wedding. He has some nerve.

I would, but it would devastate my father if I didn't come. He's the only reason why I would reluctantly drag myself to the affair Chat Icon

Yes, a kilt.

Well, let me rephrase, he was GOING to wear a kilt until I absolutely refused to allow him. So, he wore it to the rehearsal dinner instead.

And hence, the reason why I decided on having a "costume party" rehearsal dinner (we had a halloween wedding).

He was so pizzed when people came up to him and told him what a great costume he had Chat Icon

To give you some insight into the insanity of my family. We are Jewish. My brother spent 2 weeks hiking the scottish highlands. He is 37 and now believes he is Scottish and wears a kilt to work every single day.

He needs to be reminded that 2 weeks of hiking in the Sottish Highlands does not make him Scottish...Chat Icon

I do like how you said how annoyed he was when people were commenting him on his costume. Chat Icon

Ohhh, do you really want me to open this can of worms?

Well, she IS a step up from his last 10 year relationship. THAT one was 55 years old Chat Icon

THIS one is 23 years old.

How they got together? My brother was just dumped by the 55 year old. He was whining away at work. Said 23 year old overheard. Walked over, said, you broke up? I've had a crush on you for years! Said 23 year old went home, broke up with HER fiance, moved out of her house that she was sharing with him, and moved in with my brother.

This is said 23 year old's THIRD engagement Chat Icon

He's a buyer for a mountain sports store. He used to work for 911. He lives in VA, where dress requirements aren't quite as strict as us Yankees (as he says).

Did I mention he's a NY jew from Great Neck, no less, and now speaks with a thick southern accent? Chat Icon
