Oh, did I forget to mention this is the OTHER brother? Chat Icon I gladly take the award for most f'd up family Chat Icon because that, in turn, makes me, at the very least, the sanest of the bunch! Chat Icon

It would be priceless to see my DH's face if he ever met your brother and realized he wore a kilt everydayChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would decline either way. Im sure you could come up with an excuse. He doesnt sound very family oriented anyway.

I would, but it would devastate my father if I didn't come. He's the only reason why I would reluctantly drag myself to the affair Chat Icon

I would go for your Dad's sake, have a great time with him and give a really cheap gift. I am sure you could find something special to re-giftChat Icon

Perhaps the bird-feeder he gave me for our wedding? Chat Icon

Well, my dirty little secret is I didn't bother taking it off the tree when we moved to our new house, so unfortunately our little brilliant, evil genius idea won't work.

Now I'm on a mission to think of something even tacker Chat Icon

I don't think you need an excuse either. But you know...kids get sick at the last minute.Chat Icon

Don't even make up an excuse..."I won't be attending because you are a complete and utter a$$" should work just fineChat Icon

Re: Speaking of kids at weddings...

I've been in your position. I did not attend my step-brothers wedding nor did I even send a wedding card...I wanted him to know what it felt like to not be cared about like he did to my (or our Chat Icon ) father for so long...not calling or sending a card for father's day, his birthdays, christmas, when he had an operation, and I can go on and on for YEARS!!! And it worked...he was ******...but ever since than he is trying really hard to have a relationship with not only my father, but with me and my mom.

Sometimes people need a dose of their own medicine. Some people said I was harsh and mean and couldnt believe I did that (it is very out of character for me...I usually am too nice to people). And it was a very hard decision for me...but I felt he hadn't taken any interest in our lives for years, why should we go running to him all of a sudden.

Re: Speaking of kids at weddings...

To give you some insight into the insanity of my family. We are Jewish. My brother spent 2 weeks hiking the scottish highlands. He is 37 and now believes he is Scottish and wears a kilt to work every single day.
