Speaking of PTA - How is yours going?
The recent PTA thread for fundraisers for the upcoming year got me curious...
Are your PTA's communicating with members?
Is there dialogue about anything?
I know it's all uncertain, but hearing about plans makes me interested to know how other PTAs are dealing with this time on all fronts, not just fundraising but involvement on how a re-opening might look.

Speaking of PTA - How is yours going?
Our district has a reopening committee. Staff, parents and students are all on the committee. My district had a forum last week to address questions and then sent out a questionnaire for all parents so they can figure out how many parents will be utilizing 100% virtual learning as well as bussing.
The district I work in is having a forum on Tuesday. I am trying to come up with questions to ask. One question is how are they measuring 6 feet apart? Apparently my district is measuring from center of mass to center of mass so it is assuming students are sitting upright all day - funniest thing I have ever heard. They are saying kids will not need masks during instruction since they’ll be “6 feet apart”. Okay....

Our PTA is not communicating with members about school reopening. We are mainly just meeting and seeing what types of activities/fundraisers we can do in a virtual environment and still make the students/parents feel like they are a part of something.
Our school has different reopening committees, each representing different areas of reopening. Those go through the school Board so the district itself has been doing the reopening communications. Some PTA members are on the committees but, there isn't much to communicate right now.

Speaking of PTA - How is yours going?
We have not had any communication over the summer. We ended the year listing what could not be done in the Spring and instructions on how to handle end of year gifts, etc. and whatever money wasn't used will be put towards this years budget. We have been in communication regarding our Basket Dinner as it is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it had to be postponed. We have about 100 baskets sitting in our houses because we were planning on doing it at our first event of the year but I think that will be canceled as well. The PTAs really do not have any direction yet on what will happen next year until the District's plans go out but we are already planning on canceling everything until January and then reassess. Instead of our teacher welcome back breakfast we are are buying them school masks. Our book fair will be online. All cultural arts are cancelled and we are looking into doing something virtual. We are trying to figure out what to do about the Holiday Boutique. We are tossing around purchasing recess carts for each classroom as they can not share items outside the class anymore. Its going to be a very weird PTA year and we are going to need alot of imagination. Our PTA is on the re opening task force even though some parents in the district are pissed that we are as they think it should have been open to all parents, but whatever lol.

Pretty much this. We have nothing to do with reopening, but trying to find a good way to keep in touch with the parents. For now it seems like a waiting game. The President of the PTA has a meeting with the Principal soon and we will go from there on what to do for 1st grade orientation and anything in the school. Who knows what's happening. Right now trying to work on fundraisers.
