Specialist recommendation?
I'm hoping you can help...I know people go to RE specialists when they've been trying for longer... but I feel like my body is out of whack and I want a specialist to either tell me something's wrong and we can fix it or to go home and stop worrying.
Here's my story:
In September I went off of BCP. I got a BFP my first cycle on Thanksgiving and 3 days later a BFN. Everything I read and everyone on here said it was a chemical pregnancy. My OB GYN said that since there was 0 HCG in my blood on day 5, I had 4 false positive pregnancy tests. Ummm, ok. I think she was just trying to make me feel better? Anyway, everyone on here said she was nuts and to get a new doctor ASAP.
I was also diagnosed with a thyroid problem at the same time. I was put on synthroid and it messed me up even more for a month. He took me off the meds and in 6 weeks (Valentine's Day) I was "normal range" again. I go for another round of thyroid blood this week and am hoping it's still normal.
I had been on BCP for my entire adult life b/c of anemia and irregularities in my teenage years. My first cycle off BCP was fairly normal and resulted in that chemical pregnancy. I am now on cycle 4 and they have been 40-42 day cycles. I've been temping and I do get CM and it looks like I am ovulating... except for this month where my chart was all screwy and today is CD33 and I got my period :-/
I am incredibly frustrated and I don't know if it's my thyroid interfering or regulating itself or if there's a problem with me or DH. We are frustrated and DH wants to see a specialist.
We are looking and he found that North Shore Fertility Center is in our insurance.
Will they see us or are we jumping the gun? Does anyone have a recommendation?

Re: Specialist recommendation?
I knew I was going to have issues getting pregnant because I had PCOS as a teenager and when I went off the pill I never got my period. I didn't wan to waste any time so I saw an RE after 2 1/2 months of being off the pill. He ran tests and agreed it was good I saw him when I did. I'm a big believe in not wasting any time, especially if you KNOW there's an issue!
Good luck!!

Re: Specialist recommendation?
considering you have had issues with your thyroid in the past and your cycles are long and irregular, i don't think it's jumping the gun to see a specialist now. they will run all the blood work and other tests to see what's going on. better to know sooner than later. just call your insurance company and make sure they don't have any requirements before you go. good luck!

Re: Specialist recommendation?
Considering you have thyroid issues and wacky cycles I would go to an RE.
What you had sounds like a chemical. It could have just been about 20/25 and dropped back down to 0 just 5 days later. 4 false positives sounds far fetched.
I had a beta on CD13 and it was 3. HPTs need 20/25 to read positive. I went back on CD15 and it was 0 again. It could have been higher, but never above 20 b/c I had been using FRER and it just dropped to 3 at that point.
