Speech Therapy Question
My twins who are 2 have qualified for speech. We started the sessions last week at our home. The therapist comes 2x aw week for 45 mins each child. Was just curious what your speech therapist did with your children so I know this women is doing the right things and is good. The kids seem to really like her. Also how long did it take for you to see some progress?
Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!

Re: Speech Therapy Question
Basically just played games and with various toys. When he started my DS didn't have any words so she taught him sign language so he could have some tools to communicate, basic ones like more, want, please, thank you. Then as time went on she would introduce sounds and words. Everything she taught him we would do as well to reinforce the use of language, even the sign language.
Progress was slow at first but I think it was because his first therapist and him did not click. He is a very self directed child, so he needed someone with more experience so we switched at the 6mth mark. He did pick up the sign language with in first 3 wks. Good Luck!

Re: Speech Therapy Question
If she only started last week, she is probably still building a rapport with them, getting to know them so they feel comfortable with her.
Once that seemed OK, she would do different activities, mostly play, to elicit responses from DS. She read books, sang to/with him, and taught him a few basic signs, just to help him communicate at first.
