Spending $$ Vent: I had to break down and get another freakin maternity coat...
because it's so DAMN cold out!!!
My friend had given me a puffy vest and a wool coat-- now, the vest while a size small is the only coat I can zip-- but, it's too cold to have my arms exposed. The other coat is a size 2, which I am NOT, so I figured I can wear this, but I would be hard pressed to button it. Plus, wool does not really keep me warm-- and it's already wind chill in the teens out there!
I THOUGHT my big puffy would be good-- even though I didn't expect to zip it... but, I can't even close it over my boobs and it flies open from the wind. So, I am still cold, plus I look like I am wearing a cape!
It's so annoying that I thought things would still KINDA fit me even this late in pregnancy, especially with a smaller belly. But, even loose fitting sweaters and things like that-- are all too small. It's so annoying!!!!!

Randi - I just did the same thing last night! I bought a fairly inexpensive wool pea coat that I thought would get me through, but I was wrong!!! We came home last night and I ordered this from Old Navy.. It looks warm and it better be!

I guess thats one of the good things about bed rest, I can't go anywhere, so I don't have to worry about a coat.

Thankfully I had a really really warm coat that I got last year for some strange reason that was HUUUUGE on me to begin with and it fits now!!!! I look a little like my grandmother waddling down the street, but hey it serves its purpose!!! Why dont you just get a really really large size puffy coat those aren't as marked up as the maternity coats are!!

Re: Spending $$ Vent: I had to break down and get another freakin maternity coat...
I looked online and we went to Old Navy, hoping to get that puffy one they have... The store of course didn't have it-- so, I ended up getting a regular one a size up-- but, I was concerned that come a month from now, I wouldn't be able to zip it.
I continued to look online and found one at Mimi/Motherhood-- but they only had XL online. I ran over to the store in Edgewater and they had ONE left in a M-- it was $59 and I had a $12 gift card-- so, it was cheap. I just hate having to spend more money-- especially, I got some stuff that I am just not wearing. So I feel like it's just wasted money.
Here is my coat... Oh, and I got some cute sweaters at ON too-- $15!!! I think I don't need anything else-- I hope!!!

I bought a coat yesterday from GAP maternity! I could not take the fact that I was wearing a coat I could not zipper.
THey were having a sale 20.00 off 75 or more... So the coat came to 93.00 (and change) A little more than I really wanted to spend on it, but I like it and it is warm!

with only about 4 1/2 weeks left, I am not even going to spend the $$ on a maternity coat. I am wearing a puffy coat that doesn't zipper, but it will have to do!

I was thinking the same thing! however, yesterday i had to leave my bed rest to go to my dr. appt and i was FROZEN!!
LOL - the dr. gave me the OK to go back to work December 1st which leaves me about 6 more weeks of pregnancy the most - I really didnt want to spend $$ on a coat but now I think I have to

Unless this is your only baby, you will wear stuff again. I had a few outfits that still had tags from when I had Grace and this time around I wore them a lot.

Re: Spending $$ Vent: I had to break down and get another freakin maternity coat...
I have spent soooooo much money on maternity clothes. For my winter coat, I got that Old Navy one that was posted on here last week. Not the warmest,, but it fits and will do the job until late December. I agree with the poster who said that we can always wear our stuff for baby #2!

I got the same coat!! It is really warm!!! I usually wear Pea Coats, but maternity ones where either expensive, or I didn't like them. This coat works great, and was such a good price.

I just bought the same coat a few weeks ago after returning a peacoat that was too light for me. I have been wearing this coat for a week and it is so warm. You will be so comfortable in it.

Do you like this jacket on? I bought it last week and just got it, but can't decide if I like it. It doesn't seem that warm - is it? Thanks!

Re: Spending $$ Vent: I had to break down and get another freakin maternity coat...
I was pregnant for the entire winter two years ago (DS was born 4/26). I didn't even buy a coat. I just wore my regular one with a long heavy scarf down where it wasn't buttoned up.
I was commuting to NYC and walking 15 blocks to work too.
It really depends on your comfort level, I guess.

I have this one too, along with a pink swing coat from Old Navy. I wear this one when I need to be WARM and the swing coat to the mall or places where I know I will be HOT in five minutes. :)
You can always sell it on ebay if you don't want to keep it for the next baby :) The woman at Motherhood actually told me that they RAN OUT of coats last winter, so it was definitely wise of you to make the purchase now.

yeah, this was the LAST coat-- and thank god it was the size I was looking for.
I am happy I got it-- I am always cold and I would have been mis wearing a vest or an open jacket. Especially on days when I am taking the train and stuff-- too much walking in the wind!!
