Spent another day at L & D
Well, I now know all of the nurses at L & D at St. Catherines. I had a scary day yesterday. I woke up with A LOT of pressure in my lower back and lower stomach. I had a hard time getting off the couch and walking around. It was pretty intense. Thanks goodness my friend mrsratz encouraged me to call the doctor. They told me to have someone drive me there right away. My MIL brought me to the doctor and they hooked me up to a fetal monitor, I was having a lot of contractions. It hurt to even lay on the table at the doctor. Then I was examined and had a sono...without much discussion the doctor took a swab and tested me to see if I was at risk for going into labor in the next two weeks (which later came up negative thank goodness) and told me to go right over to L & D. The pain is now increasing and my Dh is working upstate! Of course he left as soon as I called but I really wanted him there. I get to L & D and they draw blood, hook me to an IV because they thought I was somewhat dehydrated and tested my urine for a bladder infection because I had so much pain. I then waited for a while and had almost a 2 hour sono (which hurt a lot) of baby and my kidneys. The same kidney stones were there from a month ago, they didn't seem bigger or smaller. Thank goodness baby looked great weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz already. But still we were not sure of my pain...which is now increasing. MIL left a little while after DH got there and I was hungry and tired and miserable. I was not allowed to eat because now they wanted me to see a urologist. This ordeal started at like 10 am and lasted all day and night. TORTURE! They asked me all kinds of questions about if I had a car seat ready etc...I also heard several mom's giving birth which scared me a ton! Dh was trying to keep me calm. I was then examined by my OB again, she wanted to check my cervix...I swear I saw stars when she examined me. I felt all my pain concentrated in that area. We then figured it out...my symphasis (I guess pelvic bone) is starting to separate thanks to the position of the baby. Apparently it is early for this to happen, but it is for sure the cause of the pain. I was still examined by the urologist to rule out and kidney stone issues (which hurt so much after the OB exam) and I had the joy of having a cath. put in to make sure I was fully emptying my bladder...again HORRIBLE PAIN! At this point I broke down and cried. It was 7 pm and I needed a break. Finally the nurse gave me some motrin and some food. I was so happy to eat and got some rest. My pain decreased and they let me leave around 9. I am on pelvic rest and I have orders to hydrate a ton and to take it easy. I am feeling less pain today but I am still worried. Again though, I am glad baby is okay.

Hang in there!!!!!!! Ive had my fair share of difficult pregnancies...once you have that baby in your arms it makes it all worth it!

OMG, Christy! I'm so sorry to hear about this Rest up and take it easy. You're in a good place and the baby looks great so those are really good signs. Let me know if you need anything

OMG, Christy! I'm so sorry to hear about this Rest up and take it easy. You're in a good place and the baby looks great so those are really good signs. Let me know if you need anything
Thanks Jen! I am just forcing myself to rest now. Yesterday was enough to freak me out!

Please call me if you need anything! I can bring Lily over and we can help you out anytime! Not a problem at all - we get bored over here!
And, I know what you mean about the women in labor sounding scary!!!
