Spent Friday night in L&D - thought I was going to miss my own shower!

So Friday didn't turn out as planned... was at the office, went to the bathroom and discovered I was bleeding - not heavily, but bright red and def not from the rear - called the OB, got sent to L&D where I was from 5:30 pm until 1:15 am. By the time I got there, the bleeding stopped so I thought I overreacted except according to the monitor, I was contracting ever 3-4 minutes almost the entire time I was there - I couldn't feel most of them but the ones I did feel just felt like BH. Anyway, they ran a lot of tests and everything looked fine. DD was also fine the whole time but they wouldn't let me go until the contractions stopped, which took a long time (ps, was not dehydrated though they did give me some fluids). Of course, Friday night as I'm in the hospital, my family (in from OOT for my shower) is landing at LaGuardia so I didn't get to see them at all Friday night but I'm so glad DD eventually decided to cooperate and calm down in there.

My shower was Saturday and aside from everyone and their mother telling me to take the week off of work (which I don't have vacation days for and my OB said was not necessary), everything was really nice. We got a lot of great stuff and it was wonderful to see my family. I got a lot of clothes, which I expected, but I also got a lot of gift cards, which I didn't expect at all but which are obviously great, and we did get most of our big items. So in the end all worked out but it's been a little hectic and I'm just trying not to panic too much. Brought home the bottles and bassinet just in case and DH has decided himself to put me on pelvic rest because now he's too scared since the doctors all were asking about sex (it's been awhile so that was not the cause). Anyway, hoping the unexplained bleeding is just one of those things and not anything more serious. I was instructed to pay attention to DD's movement and come back if it decreased at all - the concern being a placental abruption, which they can't always see on the u/s. I'm hoping maybe she just got excited about meeting my family and will cooperate from this point forward. I'm only 32 weeks so at least a few more weeks of cooking would be good!

Wow, what an intense Friday!

I am so glad everything worked out and now your little munchkin can cook for a little while longer.

Even though it stinks you had to be in L&D Friday, thankfully you made your shower!

I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out

I'm so glad to hear you and are doing good now! Thats crazy that you were having contractions and didnt feel some of them! Do you have to be monitored now at all after this?

Probably but I'll find out more when I see my OB this week. He was delivering a baby when they finally decided to release me so I didn't get a chance to ask many questions about what's next. Honestly, I couldn't feel most of them and the print-out from the machine was showing contraction after contraction. Eventually I started to feel them and then I got really panicked and upset. Of course the second I calmed down, they all stopped. It was really strange!

The only reason I ask is bc I'm now being monitored every week at Madonna Perinatal until the end on top of going to my regular ob also. I'm sure you were so worried about the contractions! I would be too. I'm crazy anxiety stricken to begin with anyway! Let us know what happens at the dr!

So I had my follow-up appt on Wednesday with the OB and everything looks fine with the baby. He said if anything bad was to come out of last Friday, it would've already happened and not to worry or think about it anymore. I also learned that the exact same thing happened to 2 of my co-workers and they both carried to full-term without further incident so I'm hoping this was just one of those weird unexplainable things.
