Sperm DNA fragmentation test?
I came across an article that said up to 80% of unexplained infertility can be due to sperm DNA damage.
I heard of a sperm DNA fragmentation test but my DH did not have it done. He just had the usual test done (count, motility, morphology, etc).
Has anyone had this test? Where is it offered? And why isn't it done more often?

Its only done by a lab in MA called ReproSource. You need to ask a RE for a script that you want this done. Then you can do this all at home. You can call the lab to schedule a date. They will ship dry ice to you directly. Your DH would put his sample in it and you would have them then schedule the pickup at your house.
Sometimes its not covered depending on insurance. I believe the most OOP is around $400? Some cheaper. You have to call Reprosource to see the cost.

All of the REs I saw never recommended this until I went to SIRM. Dr. T ordered it and DH went into the office, produced a sample and just gave it to the nurse. Reprosource came to the office and did a pick up. I believe they do this for most REs. They are the only lab that performs this test. For us,it was eye opening. The regular SA just told us that DH's sample was low in motility and morph but we had no idea why. The DNA frag test breaks down the sperm to see why the sample is abnormal. For us, DH had high oxidation and free radicals in his sperm hence the abnormal results. This was caused by a varicocele. Dr. T told us he would need the surgery but in the meantime, upping his antioxidants should help with the free radicals along with acupuncture to increase the blood flow. After almost 2 months we became pregnant naturally which was a complete shock. The test really helped give more much needed information. Insurance covered it also which was great.

Sperm DNA fragmentation test?
Dr braverman does it. Dh seman analysis was fine and the frag test came back normal. I don't think it was necessary in our case. Our issues are 100% me.
