Spider Veins
Has anyone here ever have spider veins taken care of?
If so, which procedure did you use- the injections or the laser? And how painful was it?
Also- Was it covered by insurance at all or was it considered cosmetic?
I am really thinking about having it done. I've had some on my legs for a long time and I can't stand how I look in shorts because of them!
Any advice is appreciated!!
TIA!

Re: Spider Veins
i had it done like 7-8 years ago, i was like 19, the dr used the laser, it was OK, it got rid of a majority of them but i def still had some left over (i had them on my upper thighs), also for the 1st year following, the areas that were treated were discolored WHITE, it was wierd looking but i guess it was from the heat/light or whatever they used, it did eventually go away, all in all i wasnt too impressed, i went like 3 or 4 times. it def hurts, i used a topical cream before i went it to help numb the legs a little, its sort of like rubber bands snapping against your legs. Insurance won't cover it, so i paid out of pocket, i think at the time it was like $1000, maybe a little less but again that was along time ago, after i have my baby i may go and see if they can do it again to get the ones that were missed/came back. Its also not gaureenteed, the doctors tell you this before hand, they tell you it can help but its not a def that they can get all of them, some may be too big, etc, also it doesnt prevent them from coming back so if you are prone to them, you will get them after the surgery. i heard the injections are much better, but even more painful and expensive, plus i was little wierded out imagining having that stuff they inject into the veins put into me. Hope this helps and good luck with your decision

Re: Spider Veins
I had my spider veins done at my dermatologist's office by sclerotherapy (injection). For someone who hates needles, it was torture. It was $250 about two years ago and it really didn't help. Mine were caused from another surgery so maybe that's why? My next step is laser after the baby is born.
