Spin-Off-CIO for Naps
How long do I leave him in there to cry before I take him out?
The going in and patting him etc seems to make it substaintally WORSE.
Hes just standing and hysterical.
I dont know how long to leave him?
And then what happens when he is immediately TIRED?
None of the darn books seem to adress my personal issues with my son. LOL .
Gonna have to write my own soon!
TIA to all

Re: Spin-Off-CIO for Naps
It depends on the cry. Is it an "I'm tired whiny cry" or the "I need something" cry?
I would just leave him in there. He will settle down once he realizes that you are not going in there to coddle him.
For me, going in there and doing the pat created more problems because it'd make him think I'm getting him out and we'd have to start all over again.
Good luck.

Re: Spin-Off-CIO for Naps
You're putting him down for a nap right now? I'm confused. Did he not sleep the night? It seems really early for a nap.
But I do not know his schedule so I apologize in advance.

Re: Spin-Off-CIO for Naps
He only slept from 12:00 am-7am this morning cause of the CIO fiasco last night.
He fell asleep playing at 8: 00....He woke up when I picked him up to put him in the crib.
He usually has his first nap at around 2 hours after waking.

Re: Spin-Off-CIO for Naps
I do not go in with Jack - makes it worse for him.
If he is screaming to the point where he can't breathe - I get him.
If he is whining - or just screaming bc he is mad/pizzed at me - I leave him in there. That can take place for up to an hour sometimes.
He stands at the side of the crib by the door the entire time.
He will eventually fall asleep and wake up happy as anything.
Sometimes he falls asleep without a peep - others it's a fight!

How much does he usually sleep at night? and where was he when he fell asleep? Why not just leave him where he was and not move him?

Oh no. And poor you mom. How do you do that (him sleeping on you)?
Stick to your guns mom. You are doing the right thing. Consistency is key.
