into consideration when giving a gift?
I don't- I would never even think to do that
do you give less of a gift if the wedding is paid for by the parents???
I give gifts based on my relationship with the person

I give based on a relationship with the person, but if Im debating as to HOW MUCH to give, I look at all the factors that are involved in the event. For example, where the party is being held (will obviously give more if its held in a restaurant/hall as opposed to being held in a house) etc etc.

Likewise, and for certain events, yes, I do take into account who's paying. It may be as little of a difference of $20-$50.

Agreed. Its not something I ever considered.
ETA: I also take into account what I can afford. Sometimes I will give a little more to someone who has been generous to me.

Relationship 100%. But if I know a couple struggled to pay for an event (esp for a child), I try to give more, if I can afford to.
