Spin off of my own post with toys..

Ok, so DS' first birthday is coming up and people are starting to ask what to get him. My question is, did you make a list for DC's first birthday? What did you tell people? Clothes? Toys?

I was pretty much pretty specifin with people b/c I didnt want a ton of CR@P ....

Additionally with the way that things are now, with the stores not accepting things without a receipt, what do you do if you get 2???

My suggestion is though to think ahead. Or maybe have Grandma & Grandpa or Aunts & Uncles get together and buy some bigger ticket items...

I just went to a 1st birthday - and my friend was honest - she said that he has so many toys (and they live in an apartment) - he has alot of clothes - she said either a GC to BRU of a bond would be great.

probably for close friends/family I will give them ideas if they ask -but we are having so many people that I'm sure we'll get tons of doubles and things we already have

I did a list for her 1st birthday (12/1) and xmas combined.

I put down CD's, DVD's, books, toys, and her sizes for the appropriate seasons. I did all price ranges and generally did toys for both her current age and the next age group. I also did indoor and outdoor toys for the summer.

It worked out great - She got quite a few things perfect for a 12 month old and I put away all the toys that were for 18 months up. I figure I'll pull them out in June when DS is born so she'll have all new stuff to play with!!!

My one friend wanted to get him books, so she did. Then one wanted to get him Elmo, so she did. For everyone else, I made an amazon wish list and I made sure not to buy him anything off the list. I did the same for Christmas. No duplicates

I am making a wish list. So if anyone asks I will just give them the list...

I sooooooooooooo do not want ride on toys...he's got too many. I definitely have to get the word out about that one.
