Spin-off Question about LASIK

I want it, although I am petrified about doing it. I saw the thread on where you ladies had it done, but I am interesting in knowing your RX before having it done??

For example, my contact lenses I wear now are -7.50 in both eyes. My glasses are a -8.25 or something like that (they sit further from your eye so its a slightly stronger Rx).

Are my eyes too bad for it? TIA!

Re: Spin-off Question about LASIK

No. My eye doc told me I am a candidate for LASIK and I am -8.5 in one eye, -7.5 on the other for contacts. Your eye doc can tell you if you are a candidate - your eyes need to be stable for I think 2 years (no prescription changes).

This is true, and you can probably get a free consultation to find out if you are.

My rx WAS -6.50 and -5.75, and although my vision was stabilized, my corneas weren't as flat as they should be, so i wasn't a candidate for the popular lasik. I had to get a different laser eye surgery called PRK (a little more discomfort, but same time/results as lasik).
So basically, there are alternatives that suit anyone.

Re: Spin-off Question about LASIK

Thanks! I had been steady for many years (at least 10), and then in the past year or two, I upped one eye slightly, giving both my eyes the same Rx. One eye had been slightly weaker forever. Guess I can wait and see next time I see my eye doc!

Thanks for the info!
